The default is to start a new clip every time you press the stop button, but in settings you might be able to tell the camera to continue with the same clip provided you press record again with a set time. Not sure why you want to do this though - it's much easier to edit using small clips than very large ones.

My video camera was in my car for a short time i took it out to video and now its blurry and has a bunch of colored lines on the screen.

It sounds as though it may have become overheated. If it continues to show this problem and the camera is not too warm when used then it may have been damaged by the heat. Temps in cars can get very hot. It could also be a physical damage issue if the camera was not in a case and slide around unprotected.

Muting the mic

Plug in a 3.5mm stereo "pin" plug, into the external microphone input. This will open the internal microphone circuitry and allow for silent recording.

Canon FS200 won't fully initialize 16 GB SDHC card

I have the same problem with my Canon Vixia HF R20 and I'm using a Lexar Pro 64Gb 133x SDXC card. When I try to initialize the card, its fails and says Process Terminated. The write-protect is off. The older class 4 SDHC card I've tried seems to work ok, which is a SanDisk 4Gb.

This is most likely a defective zoom rocker switch assembly. This will require major disassembly to repair and can usually be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

Canon FS100 Camcorder.

The most likely cause for this is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

if you take a picture or video can you download them to your computer and see them there? Or are they also black when downloaded. If so the imaging sensor may have failed or been defective. If the camera isn't under warranty then your best bet is to replace it. You can contact canon about repair also if you would like to decide whether repair or replacement is your best option:
