Where is the filter

It's behind the front grill underneath the vent. Some window A/C you can slide the filter out from the side or the bottom. Some you have to pull the whole front cover out. Some is part of the front grill and is not removable, and can be cleaned out instead of replacing.

Window too small for a/c

Hi,

Unfortunately you cannot mount this type of A/C vertically. The compressor must be in the upright position or it will be damaged and not function in a short period of time.

I'm trying to get the front off so I can clean the...

All I did was pull on the top left and right corners of the door. It's hinged at the bottom, so it doesn't really come off, but the top will swing out so you can get to the filter. The door does not open at the top of the unit. There are indentations on each side at the top of the door. Press your fingertips on each side at that point and pull towards you. The door should open easily.

Fan won't kick on by itself.

sounds like you have a bad capacitor it"s a little shiny metal thing that is sometimes oval or looks like a pop can you should be able to find one at an electrical store take down the voltage usually 370v or 440v and the mfd rating usually a 5 mfd or 7.5mfd it should be less than $10

I was wondering if you can install the air

NOOOOO. The compressor in it is mounted and can only sit one way. If you install it sideways it will burn up the compressor

Air conditioner freezing up

Your unit is low on freon. Take the unit to a service facility & have it recharged & the leak repaired. Note that ice formation may normal if the outside temperature is below 45-50F. If you must use it in the meantime, leaving the unit on fan only will melt the ice much faster.
