Arctic Air 22 cu. ft. Commercial Freezer F22CWF Questions & Answers
Is my defrost timer broken or my thermostat? The freezer was holding -30 temp but now is at +30.
Is the compressor running? If not - the timer could be stuck in defrost mode. If it is ruinning, then the freezer coil should be cold. If it is choked with frost & ice - then the defrost heater isn't getting powered (bad timer or defrost terminator - or is getting powered but has burned out.
You should allow the ice and frost to melt completely before turning back on again. Typically ice and frost don't build up so bad in a few days time to cause the temperature rise you're describing If getting cold - the compressor and refrigerant is likely OK, if not the defrost circuit is suspect. If compressor running but not getting cold - a refrigerant leak / charge level may be causing the problem.
Arctic air freezer building up ice but not freezing
It is a defrost problem. Either the defrost timer is not working or the defrost heater is shorted out. You will need to ohm out the heater. It should have close to infinite ohms. If "open" then that is your problem.
Just the light is on
Start at the defrost timer. Most have a manual advance knob. If the unit comes on, the timer has worn out.
Doesn't stop running but is very cold
the cold control is probably stuck closed. if you have a meter, you could pull the control out to check continuity. if nothing else throw in a thermometer, standard freezer temperature is +5 to -5 degrees F.
My new compressor is noisy
Sure it's the compressor, not a condenser fan hitting on something disturbed when you had the new compressor fitted? If it is the compressor, get the fitter to replace it under warranty.
Broich Commercial freezer ~ manual lost
I just turned it off and pulled out the super defrost button. I used towels not the drainage plug since I couldn't find a pan of any sort.
Also...very funny comment about my husband taking care of it!
I have ice build up in the coils and the freezer
Can't locate specific manual for your product but sounds like a defrost problem.
Unit should defrost on a regular basis. Usually controlled by a timer. It should turn refrigeration system off, including fans, and turn on heaters to clear any frost or ice on the evap coils. Cycle varies on usage. Look for timer and see if it is running. Make a mark on it and give it an hour and check again to see if it has moved.
Hope this gets you started.
