Put in new battery and it does not run.

It is because some 317 batteries have their negative terminal plate flashed a little bit into the positive side plate and some are a bit thicker thus the negative plate of the skin swatch touches the side of the battery. sometimes battery cove/lid cannot be closet when the battery is a minute thick. renata battery is just right for the skin swatch.

How to change battery on a swatch skin watch

  1. Place the watch in case holder. Place the watch in the case holder, if you have one. If you do not, place it on a soft cloth.
  2. Check for room to work. Check to see if there is room to attach the adjustable case wrench and rotate it 360 degrees. If not remove watch band.
  3. Remove case back. Fit the adjustable case wrench into the slots on the case back. Tighten it down until it is snug. Be careful not to slip with this tool as it can scratch the case back of your watch. Work slowly. When it is unscrewed gently pry up the case back taking great care not to damage the internal gasket. If the gasket gets damaged it will need to be replaced with the battery to retain water resistance.
  4. Remove battery. The battery will be held in place by some type of retention device. It will need to be removed. Some clips will be removed by using tweezers. Some clips may be moved using a screw driver, and some simply bend out of the way slightly. Remember how it was removed as it must be put back in place exactly for the circuit to be completed after battery change. If the clip is removed, place it and any screws in a paper cup to prevent loss. Remember how the battery was seated, plus (positive) side up or down etc. it needs to be replaced correctly to work.
  5. Test battery. Using the battery tester check the battery. If it is dead move to next step, if it is not take the watch to a jewelers for inspection.
  6. Clean and inspect battery box. Inspect the battery box the battery came out of. If there is corrosion take it to jewelers for inspection. If there is light dust it may be cleaned with a clean soft cloth.
  7. Buy battery. Use the numbers on the battery and buy a new one. Occasionally the number will be obsolete and you will be referenced to a replacement battery in the battery charts. This is the time to also replace the gasket if you need to. Check with a watch maker or jeweler, or the watch company to buy a replacement. We cannot stress enough how important this gasket is to a water resistant watch, without its integrity your fine watch may no longer be resistant.
  8. Replace battery. Using the plastic tweezers if you have them, or fingers wearing cotton gloves, replace the battery. Never use bare fingers as finger oils may corrode or short out the new battery. Carefully replace the retention device as it was remove.
  9. Replace case back. Make sure that the gasket is in place, and not pinched or caught in the case back when you set it in place. Screw down the case back using your fingers until it is tight and needs the case wrench. Attach case wrench as before and tighten down the case back.
  10. Reset and clean watch. Using the appropriate method reset the watch. Use the polishing cloth to clean off any dirt and finger prints.
OR...take to your local jeweler/watchmaker who has the appropiate tools and let them do it for you!!!! :)

How can i fix my swatch if it is changing the day at 1:30 am instead of 12 am

i'm not sure if your swatch is simply clicking over at 1:30am, or if it is actually starting to switch over much earlier, and then completing the switch at 1:30. the latter is how most watches work...especially my beloved seiko SKX diver automatic. the switchover begins prior to midnight, and ends after midnight...sometimes starting the slow turnover as early as 11:30pm in some watches and ending at as late as 1:30. however, if this is not the case with you, and it's just flipping over late, i don't know what can be done with something like a swatch. you don't mention if it's an automatic or quartz, but literally most swatches are NOT built to be repaired. they were conceived as a throwaway watch when done with, and the cases are not made to be opened for repairs. they have become such a cult item that if you look ******* google you can find companies or people who have learned how to open a swatch without destroying it, can source parts, and can fix/repair the watch. but it's not an easy slam dunk deal. it's different with each model. so, with a timepiece like a swatch, with its unique character of having an endlife, kind of like a replicant from Blade Runner, you will need to likely accept what you have bought with its limitations, and the one you've mentioned is minor compared to the watch just breaking and needing to be thrown out or put in a drawer. the swatch definitely has limits set out by its very concept. and to go back to the movies, as Dirty Harry once said: 'A man's got to know his limitations'. that goes for watches too. cheers.

How do I set swatch watch stycs598

Gently pull the middle button, (or 'crown'), outwards away from the side of the watch. It won't move very far but if you do it slowly and gently you should feel it move 2 clicks or 'notches'. Pull to the first 'notch' for the Date settings and the second for the Time settings. For the date twist one way for the day of the week and twist the opposite way for the date number. Pull the crown out to the 2nd 'notch' and you can move the hands to the correct time. Push the crown all the way back In when you have finished doing any of these settings.

Water (vapor) under the crystal

Water condensation on the inside of your watch crystal means that moisture has entered your watch, most likely through the hole in which the setting crown/stem is fitted, or, possibly, through the door of your battery compartment. It's usually easier for water to enter a watch then to leave it again. Water inside a watch can quickly corrode delicate parts, causing erratic timekeeping and premature failure of the watch, so you'll want to get it out of your watch as quickly as possible.

Fortunately, it's not that difficult to get moisture out of a Swatch. Pull the crown out into the time setting position and remove the back battery hatch. Then, turn the watch face down and leave it in the sun for a few hours. If you're worried about dust and/or rain getting into your watch, leave it inside a parked car that's in the sun--that will actually speed up the drying process, as car interiors, with the windows closed, quickly heat up far beyond outside ambient temperatures (except in winter). If it's dark outside, you can accelerate the drying process by using a hair dryer set to low / medium heat and heating the crystal gently until the moisture has evaporated. You don't want to heat the crystal too much or else it may start to melt or crack.

Once the water is out of the watch, close up the battery compartment and update the time/date for your watch. You should be good to go, as long as you try to keep your watch dry when doing things like washing hands and the like. If you had been doing so, it's also time to stop wearing your watch when you shower, wash your car, or engage in other activities where the watch is exposed to a lot of water.
