C1 not working
Sounds like your Phantom power supply may be defective. To be safe, 1st try moving AC plug for Phantom supply to another outlet as sometimes "sharing grounds" can be a problem. If this doesn't help, try using another phantom power source ...many PA mixers have built-in phantom power. If the buzz disappears with a new one, it will be a filtering issue (capacitors) with the old phantom supply.

The C-1 is a condenser microphone, which means that it requires phantom power in order to function. Most M-Audio products will provide phantom power, so it would just be a matter of pressing the button or switch (it might be marked +48 or +48v). If your M-Audio device doesn't have such a button or switch, you'll need to upgrade to a preamp that does in order to use that mic. If you do turn it on and it still doesn't work, there's something wrong with either the cable or the microphone itself.

The wire that is not connected is probably the ground wire. Reconnect it and your humming should stop.

That's a condenser microphone. Make sure you have on your phantom power. Should be a button or switch somewhere on the mixer ( individual channel or switch by power switch or in master section for +48v). All condenser mics require this.
The c-1 mic is not
With the C-1 it does require phantom power to work. On the board your using make sure the +48(phantom power) button is pressed in and it should be golden.
If it's the C-1U, the drivers must be installed first.

I don't know what you mean by "audio box".
This microphone REQUIRES "phantom power" and if your "audio box" does not provide that or the switch on it is set to phantom off, the light will not come on.

Just remember to use a good XLR balanced microphone cable or the phantom power won't work and you could damage something. Hope this helps.
