hold down shift on keyboard and press Del key. That should delete the file instantly with out sending it to recycle bin first.

Download Ultimate Boot CD which has an offline NT password changer. You can reset ur admin password with this.

Problem of HP products is Always display....that is the Video Card there are a lot of model of hp specially in dv series.

Try to check the video card. before that check first the inverter but then proceed to the Video card.....

Go to www.hp.com and put your mouse arrow over drivers and downloads tab.The page will open and select option 1 in step 1.Then enter the product number of your notebook found on a tag on the bottom of the computer,in step 2,click next.Select your operating system in step 3,click next.The drivers custom matched for your computer comes up.Update your drivers from that page.Contact HP support for any further help you might need.

Hello,
Try this quick fix :
What I suspect here is that you tried a bad CD or
DVD disk inside your drive, in that case, get a very
good lens cleaner to clean your drive first.
If that doesn't work,
Get a screw driver and trace the screw holding the
CD/DVD Drive to your system at the back of your
laptop, then unscrew it and remove your drive. If you
cant do this by yourself, just try and get a good
technician to do it for you. Then clean the interface
connecting the drive to your laptop.
After this, power up your system normally without the
drive connected.
Then shut down properly, and reconnect the drive,
making sure that its firmly connected.
Then power on again and check it in the system
BIOS if its now detected, then save and exit, then
boot your system properly again.
If it doesn't work after this, then I'm afraid you might
have to get another drive.

Do you mean you DOWNGRADED from Vista to XP
OR upgraded from XP to Vista.
coprocessor should have been picked up by Windows build in drivers.

Press fn then F9 for locking and unlocking touchpads.

Also try to power cycle your battery.Unplug the power adapter, press and hold down power button for 30 secs. When it is already powered off, take the battery out, put the battery back. Then power the laptop on. This should also resolved the issue.

Mark, there is a good chance that the power supply is not working correctly.
If you can (or have someone) test the output, it either is not providing the power or the connector(s) is/are bad.
The people at your local Radio Shack may be willing to do the test for you. (since most are Compaq dealers)

Probably the plug is damaged or the adapter is out ..cause in any other cases it would worked with the adapter in ..even if thebattery is out ..
if there is no light on the stand by ..or other lights control ..than you have to see if the adapter is still functional to eliminate this issue ..after that try to charge the battery in another one and see if it still works on batteries at leas...If all that done ..and it still not getting power at all...Not necessary start ..but see lights or such ..than it is not a power issue but the motherboard has a damages either on the powering line ..or the CPU itself..

This could be due to corrupt wireless drivers or corrupt BIOS settings. To isolate this, uninstall and reinstall the wireless drivers on the notebook. If issue persists, then update BIOS and check for the issue. Incase, if the issue is unresolved, then check if the Wireless network adapter is detected in Device Manager or not.

If it is not detected, then remove and reseat the wireless network card on the notebook. Incase, if the issue is unresolved, it clearly states that the wireless card on the notebook has gone bad. At this point, I would suggest you to take the notebook to any nearest Authorized Service Center in your location.

  • power
  • memory
  • mother board
Verify that you have enough power. Do you see power when connected to the laptop before you boot?

Try removing the memory and putting it back. Does it boot. Try putting in only one stick of memory. If that does not work, try the other stick.

Try removing the battery, and booting only on the power supply. If the machine boots without the battery, you have a battery problem.

Hopefully, one of these will help you understand your problem.

do you have the modem driver installed? on a lot of laptops ive worked with the modem and audio are like put together or something. you usually have to have the modem drivers installed before you can get the audio to work. try going to http://www.conexant.com/support/md_driverdownload.jsp
click on modem driver assistance and then click agree at the bottom and see if any of that stuff helps
