No bootable device -- insert boot disk and

What does it mean with boot disk and what to do.

The Broadcom PXE looks for a boot device/files from a network source if the network cable is't plugged in then you get the PXE-E61: Media test failure check cable, you can turn this off in the bios, when this doesn't find any boot information it moves onto the next boot device which is defined in the bios, usally the dvd drive then the HD. If this is a Altos server you have bought they are not supplied with an OS so it wont boot from the HD to begin with, if you already had a OS installed and it wont boot then there is something wrong with with the HD or the connectors or posibly the boot sectors are corrupted, if the device is making th tak tak noise the it is having trouble reading te device.

i think the wireless at your work filter computers based on their MAC address as a security measure hence you are unable to connect..
to find your comp's MAC address follow this:

  • From the Start button select Run
  • In the box which appears type cmd and click OK
  • A new windows will appear - at the prompt type ipconfig /all
  • The MAC address will be referred to as the Physical Address and is made up of 12 characters e.g. 00-D1-AB-F2-G3-89
You will have a separate MAC address for your wireless card and your Ethernet card. Make sure you use the correct one

  • do ask the admin of your work wireless system to add your comp's MAC address so that you are able to connect..
am no expert but love to help out...hope it helps you...all the best!

There are two basic ways to restore Acer 5315 PC Notebook to the original setting. The first method you can try to pressing the key Alt + F10 for 5 times while startup process appears on the Acer screen. Usually this way will restore the original setting automatically.
And the next method you may need to use system restore at the first time you’ve got your Acer 5315 laptop. Here are steps to follow:
Log on as the Administrator => Start => All Programs => Accessories => System Tools => and click the System Restore. System restore will run and here you should see the Welcome System Restore page appear. Click Restore my computer button to an early time if it’s not already
selected. Click next to continue the steps.
There is on your Acer 5315 laptop screen a Restore Point page appear, you can select it and then click the most recent system checkpoint it, click a restore point list. After you click the Next button, System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that
System Restore will create. Click OK.
For the last step click next button on the Confirm Restore Point Selection page. Now the ‘System Restore’ will restore the previous Windows XP configuration on your Acer 5315 OS system. Just finish it by restarts your Acer laptop.
Now log on again to your Acer 5315 PC Notebook as Administrator and watch the System Restore Restoration Complete page appears. Click OK.

There are three buttons near the right internal laptop speaker. The button directly to the right is the dvd drive eject button. One of the ones to the left which has the satellite icon will enable/disable the wifi receiver. The other one with the hand icon (which is the one you're looking for) will enable/disable the touchpad. If you press it, you should see a message printed in all caps in green saying that the touchpad is either enabled or disabled.

Also on this laptop you can hit Fn+F6 to enable or disable the touchpad as well there should be a touchpad disable button to the right of the power button that can be very easy to accidentally press.
