Picture size

This is the same problem I have (the picture being cut off on the edges). On your computer, you need to change to a native display. For instance, 1920x1080 usually cuts an inch off of all sides, but it's meant more for videos where a little cropping isn't a big deal; not general screen use. I believe the reason this happens is because with those other resolutions, 1920x1080 for instance, they are not your laptop's "native resolution", so in order to avoid scaling and stretching the image (which would degrade quality) they show its exact size, point by point, which is bigger than the number of pixels on your TV display. Some TVs, like mine, have a TV option called "100% scale" that forces the picture to exactly fit to the screen. But this causes stretching and distortion if the aspect ratio of your resolution and the TV's whole screen are different. Try something like 1366x768 or 1360x768 (some have both, some have only one of those). You should be able to find one or two resolutions like this that show the entire screen with full sharp clarity. It may even look better than 1920x1080 depending on your computer; find the best one that shows sharpness.

Comment or Question: I have a Polaroid TV, Model TLA01911C,manufactured in July, 2007. A surge went through it. Comes on with only a white screen. When tv screen did work,at times there was no sound.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary. Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

Where can I buy a remote control for my polaroid tv

If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service center, or authorized dealer to your device brand. To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability? Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device you have. Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its user manual. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. If you see the site by "MOSAIC" view, will make surf easier. http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/

No audio. good video

Not familiar with this make of TV, but some TV's require you make a change to the audio menu from int. to ext. speakers. Do the internal speakers work and if they do, besides the menu change are you useing an external amp with your surround system?

When I turn on my tv the screen is white and nothing else happens.

This is a common symptom of a power supply failure on the TLA-01911c. The board has parts called capacitors that filter the output power and when they go bad the power supply does not power up right. The unit can either have no power, just a flashing power light, just a white screen or it could take a long time to show a picture. Here is a link to a repair guide that shows what to replace on the power supply board to repair the unit.http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/repairing-a-polaroid-fla-01911c-with-a-bad-power-supply/I hope this helps you get your TV bad up and running,BuddyMc

Blank White screen

Hello,A blank white screen is one of the symptoms of a failure in the power supply board. The power supply board is not putting out all of the correct voltages to power up the TV. These types of problems are caused by parts called capacitors. They filter the output power and when they die the power supply can not operate correctly. This is easy to repair if you can do a little soldering. Here is a link to a repair guide for this model.http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/repairing-a-polaroid-fla-01911c-with-a-bad-power-supply/I hope this helps get your TV back running,BuddyMc

Wont power up

Hello,The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge. The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.All these can be checked on the power supply board. But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others. The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes. What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point). You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue. If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.I hope this helps.Regards

My TV has a white/gray

Hello,A white or gray screen usually means the power supply board is not functioning correctly. Below is a repair guide showing what to look for on your power supply board. Open the back of your TV and look at the power supply board as shown in the repair guide. If the capacitors are bulging on the top then they have failed and replacing them should get the board and TV back up and running. This is a very easy repair if you can do a little soldering.http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/repairing-a-polaroid-tla-01911c-with-a-bad-power-supply/I hope this helps, BuddyMc

When i turn my tv

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom (look for discoloration of the circuit board around the base of the capacitor) need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the unit will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and/or inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are SURE it's only doing supply output ripple filtering,
and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

Backlight related video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XoF6QZ1dmw&feature=related

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors, amplifiers, computer power supplies and motherboards, and other electronic equipment.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.
A great parts source is Digi-Key, and you can order the parts online at www.digikey.com
They typically cost under a dollar a piece plus a flat shipping rate.
The parts usually arrive one business day later.
If you watch the third video, you will see that even someone with no soldering experience can perform these repairs as demonstrated by the woman in the video.
