Motor runs, but dehumidifier does
Keep in mind, that a dehumidifier only draws humidity from the air, if the level of humidity is higher than what the controls are set on. The fan running, may be the automatic defrost cycle, that defrost the coils, if they become frosted over. The defrost cycle, depending on the unit and how is was designed, can last any where from 15 minutes up to 45 minutes.
Also, a dirty air intake filter makes the unit strain to keep up and can't take in moisture as it should. So, if you haven't cleaned the filter on a regular basis, not is the time to do so. And while your at it, clean the cooling coils too.
The easiest and best way to test a dehumidifier at home, to see if it's working properly. Is to place it in the bathroom and turn the shower ON and don't operate the bathroom's exhaust fan. Set the humidity level low (45%), turn the unit ON and close the door when you leave. Wait 30 to 40 minutes and check the water collection bucket. If there's water in it, it's working as it should.
Hope this helped you to solve the problem. Please let me know.

Hi i have a whirlpool
Hi.
I think that this dehumidifier does not have any thermostat controlled defrost system to remove the ice from condenser coil. You would see the defrost system as it comprises fan and heater. If there was a defrost system the problem was still worth repairing by replacing the thermostat or the element.
When the dehumidifier has no defrost system it means that the unit is low in refrigerant gas. A gas recharge will cost between $100 and $200 and it is not worth the value of the unit.
Try also calling Whirlpool and see what they think about the repair:

My dehumiderfier runs all day
It is likely that the unit has lost it's refrigerant charge. IT can be recharged but will require a servicing fitting be braised into the system and also finding where the leak is. It is likely that the repair will exceed the cost of a replacement.

Dehumidifier AD75USTO Whirlpool. Taking in
Sorry, but your Model # doesn't match any Whirlpool Appliance in my data base. However, another company may have bought the rights to use the Whirlpool name on house brand that they sell. But, lets get to a solution to your immediate problem.
First turn OFF the MASTER ON/OFF Switch and unplug the unit from the wall outlet and allow the unit to completely thaw, before removing and cleaning the air filter. As, I suspect, the filter is dirty and may be clogged. Historically, this is one of the things that can cause a dehumidifier to struggle and not be able to keep up.
After you remove and clean the filter, remove the water collection bucket and look for the drain tube or hole that drains the water into the collection bucket. Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie, that will fit into the drain hole or tube. Carefully insert the tube into the drain hole. Continue to push it in and you'll reach a bend in the tubing. Carefully push it past this bend, as far as you can. Then, while rotating the Zip Tie, pull it back out slowly. Be prepared for some water to follow. One word of caution - DO NOT use a wire coat hanger to clear the drain tube.
Reassemble everything and you should be good to go. If however, the unit freezes up again, the compressor may be low of refrigerant gas and it will need to be recharged.
Hope this helps you continue to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My dehumidifer is freezing up
If the air intake filter is dirty, that can affect the operation and cause it to freeze up. Operating in temperatures below 40 degrees will also cause it. Or a low refrigerant level can also cause it. Turn the unit OFF and unplug it. Place some old towels under the unit to absorb any dripping water. Once the unit has completely thawed, remove the filter and clean it. Carefully replace the filter (be sure it's dry) and give the unit a try.

The dehumidifier is not filling
As I told a questioner, yesterday who was having the same problem: The
operation a dehumidifier is based on the amount of humidity in the house
or room where you have it placed. If the humidity level is low and you have
the humidifier set on a low extraction setting, there would be little
to no water in the bucket. However, if you have all the settings correct
and you still don't get water in the bucket, the top 2 reasons for this
are: The Filter needs cleaning and # 2 the drain tube or hole is
clogged. The solution for cleaning the filter is a no brainer. The
solution for unclogging the drain tube or hole is not that difficult.
You will need a 12" to 20" long Plastic Zip Tie (or something similar,
but no wire coat hangers), that's small enough to go through the drain
tube or hole. When you remove the bucket look up and into the
compartment that the bucket came out of and you will see the drain tube
or drain hole. Slowly and carefully push the zip tie into the hole and
continue to work it into the hole until you reach the curve in the
tubing. This is the tricky part. Carefully and gently work it past the
curve and about 4" more. Then start removing the Zip Tie as you slowly
rotate it. This will dislodge any clogs. As you continue to pull it out,
be prepared for water to follow it. If you have water draining out,
your problem is solved.
If none of the above solved your problem,
the condenser unit may be low on refrigerant. In which case, you will
need a pro to service it.
Hope this information helps to solve the problem.

Personally, I think you're OK. The heat output is normal ... only when you will notice excessive heat output you should consider replaing the unit with another one.

I have a Whirlpool dehumidifier model AD050SG0, is
A dehumidifier is a 'de-tuned' air conditioner. Its job is to remove some of the heat from the air, causing a temperature differential which in turn should make the warm air give up some of its moisture ... just like a AC unit.
To understand the operation, you must accept that you cannot cool anything ... you must remove the heat from it. The heat (energy) must go somewhere ... in the case of a dehumidifier, it goes back into the room. Oh yes, also contributing to the heat is the electric components you are running ... the control boards, the compressor and the fan ... all use power and thus, give off heat.
Should there be heat coming out of the unit? ... yes, if it is running. Don't get mad ... these are things you probably learned in 6th grade science class - relative humidity - heat differential - properties of energy - etc.
Thanks for your question at FixYa.com

No condensation. The fan blows
Hi,
First, make sure the humidistat isn't set too high by adjusting it to
the lowest humidity setting and running it again.
Next, test the
dehumidifier by placing it in a closed bathroom with a hot shower
running. If you don't see water collecting in the unit after several
minutes, turn the unit off and clean all dehumidifier filters and
coils. If, after adjusting the settings and cleaning the unit, you
still don't see water collecting, you may have a refrigeration issue.
This situation will have to be addressed by a qualified technician.
Take care.
