Does it have a filter?

"
It may be that the humidity level or temperature in the room where your dehumidifier is located is too low.

When the outdoor temperature is below 50 F, the indoor air will be dry even when the air inside is warm, therefore when it's cold outside the dehumidifier may collect little or no water.

Air conditioners will also remove moisture from the room, even if it's hot and humid outside, resulting in little or no moisture collecting in the dehumidifier bucket.

Some dehumidifiers have a deicer which turns off the compressor but keeps the fan running. When the compressor is off, moisture is not removed from the air. The deicer turns off the compressor when the room temperature is cold.

Some dehumidifiers do not have a deicer. If the room temperature is low enough, ice may form on the evaporator coil. The ice prevents the dehumidifier from removing and collecting water. If ice forms on coils, unplug dehumidifier until ice melts and room temperature rises."

Runs constantly and doesn't remove much water.

John, there are 5 basic, yet solvable sfor what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. Isf you have an analog unit
turn the humidity extraction level knob to Maximum.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

I hope this helps your to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Possibly, but I doubt it. Because, there are 5 basic, yet solvable reasons for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2..

mechanical unit, set the manual control knob to Maximum.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

Is it possible to buy a tube that will allow me to

A standard Garden Hose will work. However, the hose can not be any longer than 5 feet and must always slope downward. As, there is no pump in the dehumidifier. It relies entirely on gravity to drain thru a hose. So, unless your condensation pump is within 5 feet of the dehumidifier, it won't work.

Hope this helped you. Please let e know.

The dehumidifier drain hose does

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/Whirlpool-Parts/Dehumidifier-Parts/1172075/0042/106/Model-AD25BBK0/1198/0907000?keySuffixId=NA&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=AD25BBK0&subCompDesc=Cabinet&brandDesc=WHIRLPOOL&modelDesc=DEHUMIDIFIER&blt=11

I would suspect the float first, IF the unit is level. But it could also be blocked with gunk and you will need to check the drain holes. I have always found a guitar string is an affective clean out of drain lines and holes.

The orange light indicates that your bucket is full, so if it isn't then it is most likely the float above.

Unit freezes up

If the unit is freezing up your fan might not be working or you may have a leak in the refrigeration system. But both of those thing cost more than a new dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers are not worth repairing they are disposable. hope this helps.
