This router is not working

Try the reset button to put it back to factory default. If it's still not working, it's time for a new router.

Netgear WNR834B used to work now it doesn't

Regarding your concern, I would recommend you to please reset and reconfigure your router (wnr834b). It is in this context, please follow the procedure stated below to configure the router:

(I) RESET THE ROUTER:

At the back of the router you will find a small tiny hole (which has a small button inside it). Press the button with the help of a paper clip and hold it down for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, please release the button and power off the router for 5 seconds then power the router back.

(II) CONFIGURE THE ROUTER:

1. Connect an Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port of the router (isolated port).
2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available (LAN) ports. Please make sure that THERE IS NO DIRECT CONNECTION BETWEEN THE MODEM AND THE COMPUTERS (either using Ethernet cable or USB cable).
3. Power off the modem and the router after making the connections.
4. Power on the modem and wait for the lights to come on, then power on the router.
5. Open the browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
6. Access the router settings, by typing 'www.routerlogin.net', 'www.routerlogin.com' or 'http://192.168.1.1' in the address bar.
7. When prompted for Username and Password please enter Username as 'admin' and Password as 'password' (please note that both Username and Password are case sensitive).
8. Click on 'Setup Wizard' (at the top of the list) from the left menu.
9. Select yes and click on next.
10. In case you get the message: 'You already have a valid Internet connection, do you still want to continue', click on 'YES'.
11. It should give you a 'Dynamic IP Detected'. Once you get 'Dynamic IP' click on Next.
12. On the next page, click on 'Apply'.
13. Once it has updated the settings click on 'Router Status' and check if there is any IP address under the Internet port.
14. If there is no IP address then please go back to 'Basic settings' from the left menu
15. Please select 'Use Computers MAC Address' from 'Router MAC Address' section and then click on 'Apply'.
16. Check for IP address again on the 'Router Status'. Once you get an IP address, please open up another browser window and try to access the Internet.

Check if you can go online on the computer hard wired to the router. Once you are able to go online. Please follow the instructions provided below to configure the wireless connection:

(III). LOGIN TO THE ROUTER:

1. On any wired computer (the computer should be connected to the router using an Ethernet cable), please open Internet Browser, like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari
2. Type in the address bar 'www.routerlogin.net', 'www.routerlogin.com' or 'http://192.168.1.1'.
3. When prompted for Username and Password, key in Username as 'admin' and Password as 'password'. Please note that, both Username and Password are case sensitive.

(IV). CONFIGURE THE WIRELESS SETTINGS OF THE ROUTER:

1. Click on ‘Wireless Settings’ under ‘Setup’ on the left hand column of the screen.
2. Under Network Name (SSID), type in any name.
3. Please select your region.
4. Please select the channel as '09' or '03'.
5. Under ‘Mode’, select the option as 'UPTO130MBPS'.
6. Under security options, select WPA-PSK (TKIP).
7. Key in any alphanumeric passphrase that you would like to keep as password for wireless network and then click on ‘Apply’ (please note that the passphrase is case sensitive).
8. Click on Wireless Settings under Advanced on the left hand column of the screen.
9. You find two check boxes on the top, namely, “Enable Wireless router Radio” and “Enable SSID Broadcast”. Both of them should be checked and then click on ‘Apply’.
10. Click on ‘Setup Access List’. The check box that says ‘Turn Access Control On’ should be unchecked and then click on ‘Apply’.

This should setup your wireless router

Is a warmstart or soft

There are times when the easiest method to reset the router is to power it down and then back up. You will not loose any of your settings on the router. They are stored in memory. You should not fear the power down.

Netgear WNR834Bv2 failed - powerlight is off, but

If you haven't tried using the reset button, should be an explanation how to use it on the router in the manual, try that.
Also, try a replacement power supply to the router, if you can get hold of one. As this maybe faulty.
However, likely faulty router, maybe due to power surge, due to lightning/bad weather.

Problems maintaining a connection on Netgear Next WNR834B - 2 Problems

Check the settings in the router setup by going to your internet browser. Type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 whatever one works.

Type in Admin for the username and password for the password. This is the default username and password.

Change what MAC addresses the router accepts and any other settings that suit your need.

You can also go through a setup from this utility.

How do I set up my wirelesss netgear

Open any web browser, such asInternet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. In the address bar, enter"192.168.0.1" (without the quotes) and press the enter key. This willbring up the login prompt for most Netgear wireless routers. If that doesn'twork, try "www.routerlogin.net", "192.168.0.5", or"10.1.10.1" until the login window appears.
Enter the username "admin"(again, without the quotes), and the password "password" in theappropriate fields, then click OK to login. If that password fails, try"1234," "Password" (with a capital "P"), or"admin" until you are greeted with the settings screen.

Make any required changes to thesettings. Under security, it is possible to specify a new username and passwordfor added security. Once you are done, close the window, and the system willautomatically log you out.

I seem to have totally lost power to my router. No

Try unplugging the router and holding down the RESET button in the back of the router down for 10 seconds...then try to power it back on. Can you also try plugging the power supply into another socket?

If nothing changes then either the power supply went out or the router itself just died.

Most are covered for a year so hopefully you kept the receipt.

Router looks as if it is not getting power.

Check the power adapter plug with a multi-meter. The voltage at the plug should be slightly higher then the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter.
If you get a very low or zero voltage, then the adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Cant find my wpa # needed to reconnect my router

For routers, there no way to see what the WPA key is. Once you check the Web UI of the router and check the security, all you will see are asterisks (*********). Because WPA is a security and needs to be hidden. As the owner of the router, you should always remember what your WPA key is.

In order to resolve this issue, you need to reset the router back to factory default, set up a new WPA key and save it.

Or you may contact the manufacturer of the router and see if they have a record for your router

Have a great day!
