hi carla my name is joe ok there are 5 things it could be the 5th is the most expensive ok 1st there is a cable inside the screen and a inverter in the screen also those are very cheap to buy and replace not sure if you want to do that yourself now there is a small chip underneath the monitor its purpose is to let laptop know when the screen lid is closed if that goes bad the laptop thinks the lid is closed and screen goes off even when its opened now the expensive one the video card went out and or the board has a short in it both need complete tear down to get to the board and take it out to work on local shops are very expensive just to let you know i would hope that its the first 2 as i would replace them as a pair about 20.00 for the set you can call around local shops and ask them how much to replace screen cable and inverter i would charge 30.00 labor and you buy the parts if i was to do it i would look over the other potential problems for nothing actual price on the first 3 items range from 6.00 to 15.00 per item depends where you or someone finds them at i would not just buy the 1st ones you see i would check prices at ebay amazon and google you can find the numbers for the inverter and cable and lid switch on google search or amazon or ebay searchok good luck please let me know the outcome

its the on board video card needs to be reworked i do it all the time and for half the price of anyone else i dont like when they say 125.00 to fix it should be like 50.00 thats what i charge its easy to do

hmmm... i had a simmiliar problem wt my laptop...not sure about this but in my case it was a motherboard issue... my motherboard got fried.... this is an extreme case... it could also just be a fault wt ur RAM...your laptop isnt able to start booting...

Blue screen 99% of the time can only be fixed by reinstalling Windows XP or Vista which ever you have. I just had to do that. so if you don't have an install disk you get get one through microsoft windows or you can find them cheaper like on sites like CraigslistHope this helps you!
