Dell W3201C 32 in. LCD Television - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Only powers up to Dell logo
I Have a Dell Model # W3201C With same problem since i am a tech.
and am experienced on LCD's after taking set apart 1 found Problem's
on Hi-Voltage board that power's the front panel . seem's that the 24 volt
line from the main power supply is bad maybe even one of the surface
ic's is draging the line down.... don't know if the hi-voltage board is
available or not this board would probably fix this problem... also would
like to know it's part # if it is out there somwhere ////
Dell no sound
Guess I am not the only one with this problem. Seems to be something Dell planned for us consumers to by another tv from them.... NOT!
MY TV HAS NO PICTURE ONLY SOUND
Check for bad electrolytic caps on power supply, and you can also read the out put voltage to see if it is rifgt, and if so the you probably have a bad invertere, but I would say a bad power supply, and you can go to
www.partstore.com to check and see if they carry your power supply.
Screen is blank, backlight working no video
The unit has a small board at the top of the panel call a t-con board. This is where the data gets transalted to the panel for picture. It most likely isnt available to be changed seperately from the panel. You can try reseating the small ribbon cables on this board. Be very careful! They can be easily damaged. Good Luck!
Never a problem with this
hi,
You have to check the Audio output IC (integrated circuit) of your tv. If it get faulty then there will be no sound. The audio amplifier IC is on which amplify the audio signal. You can easily find out the Audio output IC, follow the wire from the speakers its other end will go to socket in the audio output section in circuit board. Just trace the track in the circuit board it will end in the audio out put IC. Will be very near to the speaker socket. Normaly the audio output Ic will fitted on an aluminium heatsink. Replace the same with a new one with the same part number. You will get the IC from any electronic spare part shope near to you.
NO SOUND
Make sure that you have your internal speakers enabled in your audio settings....
All of the sudden we
What type of connection are you using for video/audio? HDMI? Have you tried using a standard composite connection for audio?
Thank you,
Lee
Sound went out think its the speakers but not sure
If there is a buzzing sound coming from the speakers, when you listen closely the speakers probably went out, you should try connecting external speakers to the tv, if they work you know its the speakers if not, then it may be the TV screen itself, hope this helps.
Dell 32' lcd
I have the exact TV with the same concern. I disassembled my set and removed the sound module to verify part numbers. The cheapest one I could find was on eBoob for over $100.00. My solution was to buy an inexpensive sound bar at Radio Shack and install it. Very simple to connect and it sounds fine. I wouldn't suggest putting money into a low quality TV like the Dell, another board may blow out at any time per several techs I talked to.
Sound problem need a repair. Sound goes off after
Need the sound board, and they are hard to find, I once found one on Ebay, and no one at Dell would help. There is a large IC on this board and I couldn't get it. But later heard to check Digit-Key. I had this same set with the same problem.
NO SOUND
Hi,
Please check the volume or muted.
Lcd dell tv w3201c I turned off then on I get a
When troubleshooting these units, there are always several variables to consider. First check to see what last occurred with the unit such as did the children play video games, did the electricity go out due to bad weather. You may see that there are many possibilities but let's focus on what occurred last to the unit. Once we determine what happened last, we may isolate the actual cause of the problem. The actual cause may be associated with projection issues, older versions (Picture tube), interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common with the error you have provided today. Please continue to look for anything EXTERNAL to the unit before looking at the internal components. I have been working on these a long time so feel free to follow up with me.
Does not turn on or off with remote or
If it's failing to turn on, the main power
supply is probably at fault and without some technical
background and a couple of test instruments, you will not be able to do the
repair yourself.
What you can do though is; unplug the set, let it
stand overnight or at least several hours, remove the back panel and look for a
separate board with mostly larger components on it; it will have a ferrite core
(no laminations as with a line-frequency part) transformer on it and several
larger capacitors which are cylindrical and mounted vertically to the board.
Before touching anything inside, especially on
that board, allow several hours to be safe since the larger capacitors can hold
a painful voltage charge for some hours.
If you see signs of overheating such as
discoloration of the board material, the PSU may not be repairable but if you
can find a part number on the board, you might be able to buy the power supply
from the mfr. and install it yourself but it will likely have the same problem
eventually unless they have altered the design or improved component quality.
If there are no signs of heat damage to the board,
there may be companies offering to repair it as a subassembly instead of
repairing the whole set which could be much more expensive.
If you choose to replace or have it done, the main
power supply still may not be at fault since most are capable
of switching on and off if a downstream problem is causing an overload.
