That was indeed the sound module. I spent hours trying to find a replacement for my Dell TV. There was one on eBay for over $100.00, I decided to remove my speakers and install a low cost sound bar from Radio Shack. Easy to install and sounds fine. Several techs told me those boards are a problem along with every other board in those sets and since the Dell is low quality to begin with, I wouldn't spend the money. Go with the sound bar and buy a real TV next time. I'll go Samsung or Sony when mine finally dies for good.

Maybe you get rid of the TV so I can get the screen or I get rid of mine so you can get my power pack. Let me know what you think.

You could try a power drain:  Unplug the TV's power cable so that the TV is not grounded to the house.  Then press and hold in the TV's own power button in for one minute to drain the capacitors.  Plug the TV back in and see if it made a difference.  If not, it would appear that the software in your TV's mainboard is corrupt and would need to be serviced.

the unit needs to be opened, and the power cable needs to be removed for 1 minute, then reconnect, reasemble, u should be ok.

hit menu, setup, fac reset. you should be ok

your audio board in this unit has burning out. It is located under the back cover. remove the screws, look for a small board with the wires comming from your speakers. If you see a small 3inch board with smearing burn marks on it, its dying fast. Must e replaced. To confirm, remove the 4 screws and look on the back side. If burnt on back real bad. Tah-dah theres your problem. Google the boards numerical stamp id number, and look 4 replacement should work great from there.

probably It is a bad inverter board, in my case one of the 16 transformers is burnt out on the inverter board. still trying to find a replacement component. if not replacing the board is the only option or getting the inverter board repaired.

by the way, this TV has a Samsung panel: model LTA320W2-L03. so it needs parts for a Samsong not a DELL.
DELL does not manufacture or fix them becuase they don't make them

please do not operate the same this is due to the sync separator problem which needs an mechanic or service center services . if you continue then the problem will cause a damage to the screen .
either the ic needs to be changed or some small condenser or a loose or dry solder connection.but remember not to open it your self and repair . pl send it to service center and let them handle the same.

Don't bother with DELL if out of warranty, they can't fix it. Have the same model and same problem

Sell it in parts and buy a new tv. Cost for repair will be more than buying a new TV. I will buy the scrap for parts.

The cost to fix this is more than buying a new TV. get rid of it.

Connect the TV to a surround sound system and use the sound from the surround sound system. That is what I did and it worked for me.

I am still searching for a replacement screen for my Dell TV. Anyone willing to get rid of a Dell W3201C LCD TV tht is bad let me have the screen.

I have the same problem with the same TV (16 months). So far the only option ive came across is just hooking up a surround system to the cable box for the audio.

Your problem is due to intermittent power in the backlighting circuit. This is usually caused by swelling of electrolytic capacitors in the power board. If you can find an honest electronics technician it is about a $40.00 fix.
