If the light goes green, then start testing for shorted speaker/wiring. This includes speaker wiring to vehicle shorts - there should be an o/c reading on your meter

Yes the amplifier will become very warm or "hot". It is a good idea to place it in an area that will recieve plenty of ventilation and air flow. Some companies sell cooling fans for larger amps.

This means your amp is getting to hot and going into protection mode. One cause of this could be how you have the speakers wired to the amp.
