Top rack dishes not getting clean

Hey- Two things could be wrong.- clog, or bad motor. Sump screen needs to be cleaned of debris. Removal of sump cover to access screen requires torx bits and some patience. Replacement of pump requires pulling out dishwasher to access bottom. Motors fail when seal between motor and pump fails. Will still operate, but become weaker over time. Parts available- motor about 100$ at appliance parts pros.appliancepartspros. Hopes this helps- Thanks- ED

Dishwasher is relatively new and although works

Remove the toe kick panel and check the water line for vibration. If copper line, bend it away from the motor. Check closely for any new or old leaks after you do this.

Hope this helps! Ken

My maytag quiet series is leaking from the door

Not sure why your enquiry landed in the Kitchen Aid dishwasher category?

It is hard to provide suggestions without having the Dishwasher Model no. I have looked at the manual for MDB7600AWW which is one of the Maytag Quiet Series category. (they must be all similar I presume)

If the water leak is minor - it could be steam condensing from the top right corner vent that is used for drying the dishes.

Other sources of water leak could be -
  • foaming of detergent - use the recommended detergent
  • unclean door liner - clean the door liner
  • dishwasher is not level - refer to installations instructions
  • door liner is damaged - replace door liner

Short in door, touch control all light up when door

You have a broken wire in the harness that comes up through the door. It will be found by carefully moving individual wires till the symptom is duplicated. Not an easy thing when all the wires are tied together and moving one moves several. Been there done that, good luck.......

The new dishwasher kitchen aid we bought is

If it is leaking from the front, then there is a problem with the seal that runs around the front of the dishwasher. It is usually located behind the main door on the edges of the unit itself, it will look similar to weather stripping. A cheap way of fixing this is to get real good weather stripping from Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. It will have a sticky surface on one side, you peel off the paper, then apply the weather stripping to the actaul door, first try to mark where the old one sits against it.If its leaking from underneath, than it can be a number of things, but most are easy to repair, you just have to pull the dishwasher completely out to get a better look. Sometimes one of the components will be leaking, but for the most part, it might just need a new hose clamp or tightened up. Hope this helps.

The dishes are not completely clean upon

Water-inlet valve
Most cleaning problems are caused by the dishwasher not getting enough wash water, so the water-inlet valve is often to blame. This valve is usually at the bottom left or right of the dishwasher, behind the lower access panel. It's the device with the main water line from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it.
When a water-inlet valve is defective, you may hear the sound that's usually referred to as "water hammer." If the water-inlet valve is defective, you need to completely replace it.

Dishwasher Water Inlet Valve Replacement

Be sure to read and understand any instructions that come with the new water inlet valve.

Tools required:- Adjustable wrench, Multi-Screwdriver , Pliers

Step 1. Disconnect the dishwasher from its power source.

Step1.Disconnect the dishwasher from its power source .

Note: Dishwashers are usually wired directly to the home’s electrical system. To disconnect the power, switch off the circuit breaker or remove the fuse for the electrical circuit the dishwasher is attached to. Try to turn the unit on after disconnecting the power to be sure you were successful.

CAUTION: If you’re not sure you’ve shut off the power properly, DO NOT CONTINUE. Call a qualified appliance repair technician to complete the repair.

Step 2. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher. This is usually underneath the kitchen sink or in the basement or crawlspace near the location of the dishwasher. Pliers may be helpful here.

Note: If there are no shut-off valves, you must shut the water off at the main water supply valve for your home.

Step 3. Remove the lower panel(s) of the dishwasher. These are usually held by 2 to 4 screws at the upper and lower corners of the panel(s).

The inlet valve is usually near the front of the dishwasher. Attached to the valve you’ll see: 2 or 4 wires, the water supply line from the house and the water feed line that goes to the dishwasher.

Step 4. Remove the household water supply line from the valve. The line is usually secured with a brass compression nut. The water supply line is usually copper or braided stainless steel.

Step 5. Remove the fitting from the valve the water supply line was attached to. This fitting may be very difficult to remove. It may help to put the valve into a vice in order to remove the fitting. If you cannot remove it, replace it. The fitting is not an appliance part but a plumbing part that is available at most hardware stores.

Step 6. Remove the screws holding the valve to the dishwasher frame.

Step 7. Label the wires to the valve so you’ll be sure to reattach them correctly.

Step 8. Remove the wires from the valve.

Step 9. Remove the clamp on the black rubber water discharge tube and pull the tube off of the valve.

Step 10. Reinstall the old fitting (or a replacement fitting if necessary) onto the new valve the water supply line was attached to. Use Teflon tape or pipe joint compound as a thread sealant. Make this fitting tight to prevent leaks. Make sure that the fitting points in the same direction as the old one so that the water supply line will meet up with it properly.

Step 11. Install the new valve in the reverse order of the removal instructions.

Note: The water supply line is under high pressure. Be sure to tighten the fittings properly.

Step 12. Turn on the water to the machine, and check for and correct any leaks.

Step 13. Reinstall the access panel(s). Restore the power to the dishwasher and test.

Note: You may have to let the dishwasher run a few minutes before it reaches the next water fill cycle.

Not cleaning well leaving film

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.

For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is not accumulated in the dishwasher, if it is in dishwasher then check for clogged drain hoses and drain pump.

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

Please do rate this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Ryle

White film left on dishes, does not seem to be

could be several things... usually it just needs rinse aid.. all dishwashers spot or leave dishes cloudy without rinse aid.. or your water is just to hard, in that case you will need to soften it with salt, check the owners manual to see how that is done.. also run the dishwasher right after you put the dishes in, if you leave them for a day to wait to fill it up then the dried food gets like cement.

TOP SPIN ARM NOT SPINNING TO CLEAN TOP RACK

Hi.

First ensure that the arm is not getting stuck, and check that the orifices are free.

When the top arm is not spinning you may need to replace pump and motor assembly. First it is good looking for blockage in pump hose.

If the appliance is less than two year old, then it may be covered by limited warranty. Call Kitchenaid at the number listed in the owners manual to verify your warranty status.

Regards.
