Use a real DVD, not one you did burn in your computer. Most of the time, self made DVD's don't contain the correct DVD format. 99,99% of the video files you can view on your computer, tablet or smart phone can't be played when burned on a DVD. DVD players only accept a limited part of the formats.

download andinstall iliquid software through it u can import ur cassete

ZR500 doesn't support windows 7 64bit. Your camcorder will say DV-in if plugged into any such input.

There is no software that comes with the camera. It is up to whatever application you are using to edit the video to import it.

I got a response back from Canon. They said
"The repair cost could cost from $145 to $320. It could be more or less. The repair is based on the evaluation of the issue and the parts it will take to repair the camera."
For a $250 camera that wouldn't be smart.

The tape can be safely removed and any damage to the tape mechanism can be repaired but this is going to take some disassembly to fix. However, it's not really a user serviceable problem and should be done by a qualified service technician.

Canon ZR500 for Windows 7: The device manufacturer stated this product is not compatible on 64bits (Laptop)

On Windows 7 with 32bits: This product installs automatically without extra software.

A firewire cable, also called iLink or IEEE13494.

You have to use a firewire connection in order to transfer your videos. The cambera will not transfer the videos through the usb ports. There is no specific driver for Vista, and this isn't a driver issue. Use your firewire port and cable, and you should be fine.
