i'm assuming that your computer says can't safely remove or it's in use. to be on the safe side just restart your computer. while computer is rebooting you can remove the flash drive.this shouldn't cause you any problems with the flash drive.

Right click on the drive in disk management(click right on top of the bar graph that says "Unallocated" and then select new simple volume. You should be able to see it under "My Computer" now

You should go to Computer->Manager-> Disk Management to see if you can see if the drive is really being read by your machine. If it comes up with blue icon you have hope if it comes up gray time to get a new one.

It's not clear what the actual problem is, but I suggest it's not recognized well under Windows. You might try to insert the USB-disk into another USB-connector at your PC. If the problem maintains, see what happens if you insert this Sandisk into a different PC.If at both PCs the Sandisk is not recognized, the Sandisk might be defective. You could consider contacting Sandisk helpdesk / customer-support in such case, to see if they could figure out what's casueing this problem.

Did you delete everything from it? Windows sometimes won't show a drive when it is empty (stupid, I know.)There is a windows setting to show empty drives. The setting is in the Folder Options, under the View Tab. Find Folder Options in your windows control panel.
