the drive is not recognized by the os, cant run any disc, i have checked in device manager it says;Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Hi, the error code that you have on the CD/DVD drive is a known issue from Microsoft. The error code means "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (code 39)".
Since you are using a Toshiba laptop; you can click on this link http://tinyurl.com/toshibadvd and click on the repair tool on the resolution. This is applicable on both Windows Xp and Vista and will delete the upper/lowerfilters on the registry.
In case that the error code still exist you need to manually delete the upper/lowerfilters under the registry by clicking on this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461/en-us . You need to go the "Run" screen then type in "regedit" and click OK or hit the enter key.
This will surely fix the error code that you have on the CD/DVD drive.
Thanks

Try running System Restore to a day just before this failed. It's a software issue according to other forum posts elsewhere.

my laptop does not recognise any usb device attached to it. when i plug a device it say device not know.
pliz assist
To reinstall USB drivers, you need to reinstall the system, as USB root hub drivers are built in on Windows.
Tray first removing laptop battery and unplugging AC charger for ten or fifteen minutes, this will get rid of static charges that can cause USB not to work.
If that does not solve the problem then you need to reinstall Windows. Try a system restore first.

Dear All,
I have a 2 yr old Toshiba A105-S4254.No software
problems so far (except for the power chord problem, now solved, which is pasted below). But,today For the fist time when I turn the
power switch on I get a black screen and I get this message (among
other things that are written):
"WARNING:
0251: System CMOS checksum bad- Default configuration usedPress <F1> to load default <F2> to set up"
I have no idea what this is. Which of the two F1 or F2 should I press?
Thanks in advance,
Sangeeta
PS: I have pasted the old probem which got solved last week below just in case it is related to this current one. Thanks
PREVIOUS PROBLEM that got magically solved on its own is given below:
Dear All,
Ironically,
5 days after the paid warrenty expired (2 years and 5 days after I
bought this piece of equipment), the A105-4254, it suddenly died on me!
It
always had a "loose connection" to the AC adaptor. While working at
home, I always had to pull and yank the power cable everytime I used it
to make sure the "blue power light is on" and that power is being
supplied to my laptop or else it would indicate that it is being
powered through the battery instead.I lived with it. However around
Christmas, when it was the season to be Jolly, the power cable
connection started acting up big time and I perpetually had to hold the
powersupply cable connection to the laptop with my left hand and type
using only one hand. This went on for a few days. And then, on January
17 2009, my laptop just died on me. Like dead dead.I bought a new
powercord ($150)- nothing. I removed the battery and plugged in the AC
adapter-nothing. No lights, no sounds, nothing. I cannot live without
my laptop. Help.
Please give some suggestion which do not
include paying an arm and a leg to get it repaired (it is outside the
warrenty remember).
Thanks to all in advance,
Sangeeta
You can go ahead and press F1. If it happens again the next time you boot up or it just goes back to that screen try pressing F2 and then exit with saving.
This should solve your problems, If it doesnt you have something configured incorrectly in the CMOS.
If this is the case there should be somewhere that you can restore the defaults of the CMOS (as every computer is different I can't guide you through this process)
Have a great day.

Dear Sir,
I have a laptop with the following details.
it is a Satellite A 100 -234 PSAA8E
I could not find this model in the web. follwing a virus infection i had to reformat the computer. i could not find the drivers for the folowing in the device manager. in the device manger the following has an yellow question mark
Other Devices
Ethernet controller
Mass storage controller
Network controller
SM Bus contrlller
It's not listed on their US support site.
That might not be the correct numbers you're reading on the computer.
If you can find the serial number you can find the exact model info by visiting the warranty page here:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/outFrm.jsp?ct=NV&to=WaCaReg&origin=navicons
Let me know if that works.
If it does, then you'll know the correct model and you should be able to download the missing drivers from here:
www.support.toshiba.com
just click on "download" and a model finder box will pop up.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best of luck!

hoe remove bios password in toshiba satellite a120
It cannot be removed using software.
To remove the password you will have to remove the CMOS battery located on the lower side of the motherboard.
To access the battery the computer must be disassembled completely.

how to enable my bluetooth on my toshiba laptop
Most of the time when you go to Start - All Programs - Toshiba you will see Bluetooth. This will be there if you have the driver installed. Also, make sure that the Bluetooth logo is on the bottom of the laptop to make sure that your model was built with the Bluetooth chip in it. Sometimes you can also find the bluetooth icon on your taskbar and by right clicking on it you will bring up the "enable" option. You may also want to go into your control panel and see if the icon is in there. The shortcut to get to the control panel is "Start" key then press the "c" key. Hope this helps.

It is an A665 toshiba laptop. The computer won't go beyond this screen..
System Power State S4. System power state S4, the hibernate state, is the lowest-powered sleeping state and has the longest wake-up latency. To reduce power consumption to a minimum, the hardware powers off all devices.
Have you done all the hardware (Toshiba) and software updates ( Windows) to your system? Did you change anything in the BIOS? Please answer so I can assist.
