Nikon D50 powers up but none of the functions work. Battery indicator flashes but battery is fully charged. No memory card also flashes though memory card is inserted correctly.

Hi Have you tried resetting the camera back to factory settings? This should clear up any problems...if it doesn't it may at least let you know what the problem is? Also...do not use an SD card no bigger than 2 gigs, What is thee display showing? Make sure the date and time are correct! Get back to me if you need any more help...Thanks...John,

My pictures have a reddish tint to them

If your pictures that have the reddish tint are taken indoors, the tint is likely caused by the lighting. You can set up a 'white balance" adjustment to fix that.

How do I charge a nikon clock battery

The clock battery is internal and cannot be removed or replaced except by a technician. It is recharged by your regular rechargeable battery, so there is no separate charging procedure. If you find that your clock and other permanent settings are being list when you remove your regular battery for charging, then it's an issue with the internal battery and should go to repair.

After taking a shot rainbow colors are on my screen. Why is this?

You're going to have to tell me a bit more about what your conditions were at the time. What kind of shot? Was the sun very close to the edge of your photo? What time of day was it? Morning/evening? Shutter speed, f-stop, ISO. Without knowing what you were shooting and when, it's difficult to diagnose what the "problem" is. Did the next shot exhibit the same thing? Is it doing it all the time? Were you by any chance wearing polarized sunglasses when viewing the monitor or does it appear that way without sunglasses? Sorry for the questions, but you don't give me much to go on. VictroyBoy

Nikon D50 will not autofocus, the menue item 02 Autofocus is no highlighed and I can not set it

You should check two switches. First, on your lens, be sure it's set to M/MA not M. That puts the lens in auto focus mode. On the camera there should be a switch that shows C/S/M. If switched to M, it's on manual focus. Change this to S for single auto focus or C for continuous auto focus.

Histogram image

Press the up or down arrows on the multi-function selector button on the back of the camera to cycle through the various display functions until you get the one you want. The histogram display usually shows when you have unintentionally pressed one of the arrow buttons accidentally.

Err on top of display on camera

Unfortunately, this probably won't be a good situation. Most of the time the ERR(or) message you're getting shows when there's an internal problem, and most likely a shutter error. Not an uncommon problem with the older consumer models like D40, D50, etc.

Err popping up on top of bar when try to take a picture flash does not come up and also when looking in it also appears inside

When a Nikon camera says Err, something is wrong with the memory card. Perhaps it is not inserted correct. Or not a card inside at all. Perhaps you can't write to the card or it should be formatted. When you have a Err, the camera won't do a thing, to avoid the user can think he is shooting pictures and the camera won't save one.

I took some picture on my Nikon D50 without the sdcard, and they are stored on the camera's internal memory, and I have looked through the menu and through the manual, but cannot find a way to tra

The pictures are NOT stored in the internal memory, because the camera doesn't have any. Any pictures you take without a memory card can be reviewed on the screen, just to check that the camera is working, but are not stored and disappear when you take the next picture or turn the camera off. Sorry, but those pictures are gone. I know that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

Can't take pictures Full is displayed

This could mean exactly what it says...that your memory card is full and pictures need to be downloaded to your computer. If you've already done that, it may mean that you did not tell the computer to erase the pictures from your card. If that's the problem you should be able to fix it by formatting the card. You can do that from the menu(little wrench icon) or by pressing and holding down the "delete" button (trash can icon on back of camera) and the "metering" button (to the left of the off/on switch) on the top of the camera. Both buttons are marked with "format" symbols. If neither of these works, try replacing the card with a new one that is known to be empty and known to work. The final alternative is to contact Nikon tech support at www.nikon.com and see what they advise.
