Prints thick black lines

Hello, Andrea.

Sounds like either your printer needs a new fuser assembly (If the teflon roller gets scratched or starts to disintegrate you will get lines or black marks on the page) or you need a replacement toner.

Hope this helps.

Outlook won't print to Brother MFC7360N AllInOne Laser Printer

Must be set on Brother MFC-7360N series. Set on PC-FAX will not print with all programs, as it is printing with an output through the fax. Go to control panel, select devices, printers to change to pc-7360 series. This should print on all programs.

Brother HL-5240

That is a serious error and you need to press the go button and see which lights are lit while you hold it and it tells the rest of the error. Could be main pcb, engine pcb or even a fuser error.

HL-5240 Appears to need new toner but that didn't fix it.

If the marks on the page appear to repeat three or four times down the page regardless of what is printed, it could be the drum unit ( the unit the cartridge fits into) You can test this by taking the cartridge out of the drum and looking at the cylinder in the drum unit. If has light coloured bands, or looks very black, then it is at or past its life cycle ca20-25k pages. If it has clots of toner stuck to it but is otherwise ok, you could carefully clean it with alcohol and a cotton ball to remove the toner clots. Steady and patient is more rewarding than trying to grind the stuff off. If the drum looks reasonably clean, open the flap at the back of the printer and look closely at the fuser. If there are clots of toner stuck to the orange pressure roller or to the grey/tan fuser roller, then the fuser will need to be taken out and cleaned also with alcohol, cotton ball and much patience.

The printer put extra dots that are not on my

Three or four repeating marks down the page means there will be a spot or smudge of toner on drum unit. Open the front hatch and remover the toner and drum assembly. Separate the toner and drum. Rotate the drum cylinder using the white gear at one end looking carefully at the surface of the cylinder as you turn it. Somewhere on the surface you will see one or more black specks. These need to be cleaned off using alcohol (preferably Iso-propanol but methylated spirit will do)on a cotton ball (or very soft cloth or tissue paper). Once you have found and cleaned off all specks you can re-assemble the toner and drum, put it back in the printer and run a test page. That should fix your problem.

My printer refuses to print. The Red Status light

Perform a Factory Reset

Turn the printer power switch OFF on the right side of the printer. Check that the front cover is closed.

Turn the printer power switch ON while holding down the GO button until the Toner, Drum, and Paper LEDs are lit.

Release the GO button. All LEDs will be off.

Press the GO button 8 times. The Ready LED will flash briefly while the printer is reset. After the printer is reset the Ready LED will be lit.

Print a Test Print Page

Print the Print Settings by pressing the GO button three times.

- If the Print Settings pages do not print, check for alarm lights on the printer. Clear the printer error before trying to print again.

- If the Print Settings pages print, the problem is isolated to printing from your computer. Verify the printer cable connects from the back of the computer directly to the printer. Click Printer at the top of the window again. Make sure that Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline are not check marked. If either setting is marked, click on the check mark to remove it.

Click Properties from this Printer menu list.

Click the Ports tab. Verify the correct port is selected (LPT1 is using a parallel cable and USB is using a USB cable). Remember to click Apply if you select another port.

When page prints out it has blotches of black ink on the paper

It is probably the toner cartridge, not the drum. I suggest swapping in old toner cartridges and drums to nail down the problem. I keep at least one old toner and one old drum for that purpose. By the way I just bought a toner cart from monoprice.com. It will not last as long as a Brother cart, but costs very little.

Ink spots left side page brother laser printer

If you are using a generic toner, replace it with cartridge from Brother. Many of these are caused by using a refilled cartridge or a generic cartridge. Use a cleaning sheet and run it though a couple of times, if this does not clear it up you need a new cartridge.

Toner blobs on upper left of paper

Are the supplies you are using OEM ( original equipment manufactured ).... or is it remanufactured? I've had issues with some of the remanufactured products ( or rebuilt ). I would also take the toner out and inspect the paper path for toner and clean it out with a 3m vaccuume and a lint free wipe. Other than that it might need a new fuser.

Printer Status LED is Red and Drum Light is Yellow

Hi, this error shows when the corona wire is dirty, some times I clean the corona wire with a small screw driver pressing the corona wire down and slide the screw driver to the both sides also once you clean in the up I press from the side and slide the screwdriver after that with a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol slide from side to side, or replace the drum unit and reset, if you install a new toner, there is a mechanic control for reset the printer toner counter, this only works the first time that you install the cartridges, for example If you install the cartridge in 1 printer and then move to other printer the other printer keep the counter for the old cartridge, if you are sure that your cartridge is new you need to open a return the gears to is original position in order to install in another printer.

Loud clicking noise

This is one of the known issues with the HL-5240. This will require a replacement paper tray. Definately the problem if it is more of a clack than a click.

Red light with orange on toner

If you've had the machine one year and not replaced the toner cartridge, you will get a prompt to replace it (it's a sales thing for Brother). And you will continue to get that prompt until you do; or until you reset the lever on the cartridge. Problem is that the 'original' cartridge doesn't have that lever with gear assembly, so you have to buy it from someone else ($10).I also tape over the little windows on the toner cartridge so I never get a low toner alert. I want to use up all the toner I can before adding more. But the first thing to do with any toner alert is to remove the cartridge and shake it back and forth (left and right).Other than that, we would need more info on what your lights are indicating the problem is.Good luck.
