Vaio 497xp upgrade to windows 7 lost wireless capability
If you have internet, then just right click "Computer" icon on desktop, select 'manage' and then select 'device manager' in the "Computer Management" screen. Check for any entries with '!' or'?'. Most probably your 'wireless hardware' will have such a mark beside it. Right click on that entry select 'update driver software'. If you would have had a driver cd of your laptop, then you could have used 'Browse my computer for driver software', whereas in this case use 'Search automatically for updated driver software'. Your computer will search the internet for most appropriate drivers and install it. Hope this will help you out.

My pc keeps restarting over
Hello!
There are a lot of factors why your PC is acting that way, it could be a virus infection, hardware or software problems.
Virus Infection
- if your computer is infected or the virus behavior or capability is to keep restarting your system or PC. This could be the solution, you can install a decent virus scanner and update it always to be able to detect viruses.
Software Problem
- If your Operating System is behaving badly or some system files is missing, this can cause your PC to always restarts. To fix this is to reformat your hard drive and install OS again.
Hardware Problem
- If your RAM or one of the memory installed in your PC is defective it can cause restarting also, try cleaning your RAM's or swap other RAM to be able to determine the problem.
Hope I was able to help.

Or try this-
- Place a blank media disc into the appropriate optical drive.
- Click the Start button and in the Search programs and files field, type system repair disc , and then press the Enter key.
LoadImage('png60589.png','Block BorderSolid','','','Search programs and files')

- When the Using the system repair disc window appears, remove the disc from the optical drive, follow the on-screen instructions to label the disc appropriately, and then click the Close button.
- In the Create a system repair disc window, click the OK button.

EXPLORER WON'T RESPOND
i am sorry it is late i kind of read over the fact that your modem works and dowloaded xp sp3.
if your internet explorer doesnt go to any webpage check the following settings in internet explorer :
tools>internet options>connections
now if you work on a dial up modem your connection should be in there.
if its not just add one and follow the steps accordingly.
if your on a Local Area Network (LAN) this should be empty
also go to : Lan settings
in the same tab
and make sure no proxy info is entered that should all be off and empty.
you can click : Automatically detect settings
to on.

Lost recovery dist for sony vaio pcv-rx500
Hi,
I had an RX540 and I can tell you absolutely that you have NO options other than hopefully finding it in the classifieds. Sony is rigid about not only programs but also hardware that originally came with it.
You didnt mention you were having any problems right now so I assume all is up and running well? If so, I recommend 'ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE' its a back up program of my choice that lets you back up the entire operating system or just programs and you can back it up by making restore disk sets or simply cloning the whole drive to another drive. There are other programs that do this but I have tried a few and many times when you back up programs they will restore ok but then ask you for serial numbers. ACRONIS has only done that with one program that I have seen.
So simply..
search for a program that auto-copies all your serial numbers OR mark them down yourself and make some restore discs using Acronis or something similar.
I would also suggest cleaning any old files etc off your drive and running a scandisk and defrag before you do the back ups.(for good quality and speed)
When you back up.. back up the entire operating system AND all the programs.
If you only select operating system, all you will have is windoze.
In the future you can totally foul your windoze and simply boot to the Acronis recovery cd and the back ups ON CD and it will restore your computer.
Or.. do what I do. Once you have everything perfect, simply clone the entire drive to another drive and if it ever messes up just swap out the hard drive like changing a light bulb.*s* (always save your serials.)
By the way, a hard drive needs to be about 1/3 empty to work well and fast because there are windows memory and swap file issues. So free up some space for good performance ok ?
I hope this was helpful. good luck.*s*
