Averatec 1000 Notebook Questions & Answers
My DVD wont recognize any DVDs. This just started today.
Well, DVD Drives do burn out, and while you probably don't want to hear it, you might have to buy a new one. If you have restarted the computer several times, and haven't installed anything lately, then it may just be dead. But you should try to remember if you have installed anything lately, or done anything to change the laptop. Also, see if it will read CD's, or if it makes noise like the CD/DVD is spinning up/down or the eye is moving back and forth when you insert it. Good Luck
Averatec 1000 webcam doesn't work
Integrated webcams are not useable with the Windows 7 OS. Windows XP had webcam software that enabled you to use the camera, as does Windows 8, 8.1 and 10. The patch to solve the issue with the integrated webcam using Windows 7 was never resolved... Not to my knowledge anyways. It would always come up with the message that the webcam was "Already in use by another program".
I forgot my administrators password
Sorry for my form solution, but the answer is there. GLLost Windows password:
- Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode. XP only.
- Login as other user (if other user is available) and manage users. Must be an administrator.
- Reformat computer.
- Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html
- Free software option would be Hirens Boot CD. This one is command prompt only. http://www.hirensbootcd.org/ Must follow instructions exactly

My friend owns this averatec
The notebook could be overheating.
When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a can of compressed air to do this.

without more information, nobody can even attempt to help you. Why nobody on here took the time to tell you that is beyond me.
I am looking for a copy of the factory restore
I am trying to do the same thing. Included plastic cd case with original box states to hit the f4 key once averatec logo appears. I tried this along with every other key and nothing brought up the recovery software screen.
How do you turn on your webcam?
Press and hold the Fn button, and then press the F6 button to turn the Webcam function on. Press again to turn it off
I looked at the user guide which is located here. You'll need Adobe reader to read the guide since its in a PDF.

Knocking sound from inside averatec 1000
This looks like a hard disk drive problem, I think that you must be hearing a clicking sound. Which means that your hard disk has a lot of bad sectors and eventually they will increase resulting in hard disk failure.
Does your laptop boots, or are you at the last stage.
This can be fixed but its a very complicated and lengthy process, thats why I would recommend you to get a new hard disk or get it repaired by a computer tech. Compare the prices and go for the cheapest one.
Please feel free to ask me any further.
