Try removing battery and then re inserting. This can usually be done pretty simply by sliding lock to one side and the pulling battery out. This is under the laptop.

I would suggest you to use the factory reset disc which you should have got along with the laptop and get your computer back to factory settings and if you do not have the disc then i would suggest you to call microsoft at 1800-936-5700 (U.S Toll Free number ) and they would be generating a new product key based on the part number which is at the back of your windows XP CD.

You have to ask Microsoft via their website of contact details they offer. You will also probably have to pay for a licence.

If you want a free office suite, go to filehippo.com download and install Openoffice, this will allow you to access your CV

It should be on the case or sleeve the CD was in when you received it. If not, you can check with whoever sold you the computer as they are responsible for support and maintenance of the OS.

It is always adivisable to get genuine copies of Windows.. i recommend you purchase an activation key from here www.microsoft.com otherwise, try to search the net for keys online.. you could google for key indicating your exact windows version.. you will get them but remember these are not genuine and you will have no access to MS updates.

The product key is on the box when you purchased the product. There is no universal code to use. The product needs to be purchased and that allows you to use that code on a certain number of computers then the code no longer works. If you lost your code you can contact microsoft and they can help.
