A web page will open, select country, operative system etc., and click on download now loaction.
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading,find the file, double click on the file, if you get in troubles ,thenfollow instructions below to reset and reinstall:

• Unplug printer USB.
• Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
• Download driver from website and run the file.
  
• Follow driver installation wizard.
• Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Do not forget to rate the solution appropriately.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download and install the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)

Any USB port should work. There is no "printer" USB port. The "U" stands for "Universal" to signify that any peripheral equipment will work.

Can you explain the problem a little further and perhaps I can give you an idea of how to proceed?

It may be your phone carrier's issue. Have them test the line.

Is it a Dell cartridge or a generic cartridge? No-name cartridges sometimes lack the chip which the printer looks for. Return the cartridge for an exchange.

unplug printer for a minute and plug it back in,this might reset it?if that doesn't work if theres an red X on the panel,hit that and maybe it will clear it?good luck:)

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages,then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

Hi. The flashing code signifies that there is a fault with the connection between the ink cartridge and the printer - usually because either the tape is still on the cartridge or maybe some glue from the tape still on the contacts. In my case, I think the cartridge was simply knackered, so I threw it away and opened yet another ink cartridge. It now works fine.

If you want to test yours, simply take out both ink cartridges, and re-insert them one at a time. If you've put a working cartridge in the flashing will stop; if you've put the dodgy one in it'll still flash. Just replace the dodgy one.

Hi Doris,Please make sure the Operating System you are using corresponds with the printer driver.In other words,make sure the driver you're installing is compatible with the Operating System on your PC.Check out your Operating System's compatible drivers for downloads from this Dell support site.Make sure you unlock the scanner bed by pushing the scanner lock down.Check the USB cable connections and make sure its secure.If problem persists,return the product if still on warrant.Hope this helps.Thanks!

try to install to other machine,maybe it not compatible with the operating system

First check the printer cable, unplug and replug the cabel in the printer and computer.
If it still does not work then reinstall the printer driver.

The computer is not detecting your printer. Here's what you need to do:

1. Check all the connections or Reset the connection between your computer and your printer.
2. Press and hold the power button of your printer for 5 seconds to do a power cycle. The printer will turn off.
3. Turn it back on.
4. Print something.

If no go,

1. Uninstall and reinstall the driver of your printer. You can access the driver in Control Panel>Add and Remove Programs. After un installing the driver, put the disc of your printer into your computer's DVD player. Follow the onscreen instructions.

2. Print Something.

Have you tried going to Dell and downloading the drivers for it? I had an A920 until a couple of weeks ago so know that every once in awhile, for no reason, it quits working. Mine would print but not scan! I went to Dell, downloaded updated drivers and this seemed to fix the problem. I had to do the scanning through the program, not by pushing the buttons, tho.

Not an easy fix, the holder is secured in quite well and unless your a wiz with the screwdriver, I would not recommend it, but if you are it is quite the challenge and fun!!! For the price of the spare part from dell you can purchase a replacement printer. Simply contact Dell Services in your country for a price on a new Cartridge Carriage!
