If you're wanting to replace the waste pads you're going to be making a lot of work for yourself as an external waste ink kit is considerably easier to fit via the little access hatch in the back.That said, you can disassemble the printer if you can get a copy of the Service Manual. Sites like 2manuals will have them and some will charge for access.One key thing to note however is that the printers are designed such that the case itself provides the stability for the printer components. If you remove too many panels and/or parts you'll knock the printer out of alignment and need a service centre with the appropriate jigs to realign it. So take care and consider your approach carefully.Best of luck

For Epson RX500 users there is also a manual reset on my site, as the SSC Serve software won't do it for you.
When using the program & choosing your printer from the list, it may have a weird name with 'x' in the model number, this is because some configurations are for many models in a series. For example, the C46 will be listed as C4x as it is for the C42, C44 & C46 models.

Is there any indication as to the kind of error? If the printer is connected to a PC you should get a description as to what is at fault? Any additional information would be great.

The black print head nozzles maybe blocked. Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent blocked print head nozzles. You may have blocked print head nozzles. Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles. After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the print then a new print head is required.

This is a "General Error" issue, not a service required one.

It's likely that either a sensor in the printer is damaged (possibly a ribbon cable has come detached)... or more likely there is some foreign body or printer part that's come loose and is blocking the printhead carriage path.

A common one I've seen with the C86 and similar is for the head cleaning part become detached from the parking pad (all based far right)... When it does this it springs up into the printheads path and stops it from reaching the parking position.

It requires patience to fix (and some rubber gloves to avoid ink mess) but if notice a part doing an impression of a jack in the box then you can usually gently push the part down and then careful maneuver it over to the right into a connection with the parking pad part.

It's hard to describe without pictures but it gives you an idea of what to look for.

It is very easy to change ink in your Epson printers. First remove the old cartridges from your printer by following the instructions in your printer user manual. After that, clean the printer with cleaning cartridges. Then do a Nozzle Check and run another cleaning cycle. Repeat the last two steps for several times until only clear fluids get released. Now install the new ink cartridges into the printer and turn it on and start the prime cycle.

After the completion of the prime cycle do a test print. If everything is okay then you know that the printer is again ready for use. yes, try to print a page and you should get a text box appear at the bottom of your screen telling you your ink is low, click on this box and it will tell you which ink has or is running out

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken . Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or poor ink cartridge contacts.

Run a Head Cleaning Cycle. If that won't help. chances are the tubes are already blocked with the ink from previous cartridge. You can bring it to a Certified service center but its better getting a new one.

The following may work: remove all the ink supplies. Remove the printhead and soak it for about 5 minutes in 0.5" of very hot water. Gently blot the printhead on a soft damp paper towel to remove the excess water, then replace in the printer and then reinstall the ink supplies.
