How to Identify the Type of Bottom Bracket on a Schwinn IC Pro

- This video will help easily determine what kind of bottom bracket you need for your Schwinn IC Pro
- You see in the video there are four available
- The first one showed is the OEM style bottom bracket, on both ends it is a square tapered shaft bottom bracket
- We offer a Sportsmith bottom bracket kit including the crank arms and crank bolts
- This is also a square tapered shaft bottom bracket
- We also offer two ISIS style bottom brackets
- One is a 1 7/8" diameter
- The other is 1 3/8" diameter
- As you can see in the video these both have a round splined shaft
- To identify which ISIS bottom bracket you need you will want to remove the crank arm and measure the hole in the frame that the bottom bracket mounts into
- You will have to determine if you need a round splined shaft or a square tapered shaft
- If you do need the round splined shaft you will have to know if you need the 1 3/8" or the 1 7/8" diameter bottom bracket
- Knowing these things can reduce the frustration of buying the wrong parts and shorten down time greatly
How to Identify the Type of Bottom Bracket on Schwinn IC Pro
Error 3 (E3) on Schwinn 240 recumbent bike. How
No speed/RPM reading, Console displays
"E3" error code
Check data cable integrity All wires in cable should be intact. If any
are cut or crimped, replace cable.
Check data cable connections/orientation, insure cable is connected securely and oriented properly. Small latch on connector should line up and snap into place.
Check magnet position (requires shroud removal) Magnet should be in place on flywheel. If no magnet is present, replace the flywheel or the entire base unit (if unable to replace flywheel).
Check RPM Sensor (requires shroud removal) RPM sensor should be aligned with magnet and connected to data cable. Realign sensor if necessary ( 1/8" clearance between sensor and flywheel) if still error 3 then check the sensor with a multi meter unplug sensor leads attach meter to sensor connectors. Have someone by hand rotate the pedal while you observe the multi meter opening and closing the internal sensor circuit if no change in meter readings then replace the sensor.
My Airdyne AD-6 crank arms are ~45* apart, not 180* Can they be adjusted?
It is possible that the crank arms are not seated correctly on the bottom bracket spindle, causing them to be misaligned. Try removing the crank arms and re-installing them, making sure that they are properly aligned with each other and with the bottom bracket spindle. If that doesn't work, there may be an issue with the bottom bracket itself, in which case it may need to be replaced. You can also check the manual for your Airdyne AD-6 to see if there are any specific instructions for adjusting the crank arms.
Model SRB-1800. Why is it indicating error code 1?
That error code is for the speed sensor. There is some kind of issue with it, it may be loose or misaligned, the magnet on the fly wheel may also be. Or the sensor may have failed entirely. You may check the sensor and the magnet but that will depend on your comfort level in taking the unit apart to get to the issue.

Schwinn 130 Journey 1.0, increasing resistance button, nothing happens
Our Schwinn 130 worked fine for a year then the resistance setting got stuck. We took it apart and found that the bolt that holds the magnet arm was too tight and preventing it from moving it to the highest resistance setting. We loosened the bolt a bit and added some WD40 and it works great now.
