My logitech z640 does not

Open the Sound control panel in the computer and verify that the output is set to external speakers. You can verify by playing with the System Alert sounds; this will weed out application problems. There are a few applications that have the sound output selection crossed up on some computer models - selecting the internal speakers will send the sound to the external speaker jack(s) and vice versa. If you have headphones or a different set of speakers, try them just make sure the computer is not the problem.

I have a logitech Z-640 speaker system connected to a Panasonic Plasma TV and the sub woffer has no volume coming from the large speaker. All the other speakers are OK It seems there is no power going

Hi Ray,if there is no power going thru than, might probably be your fuse in the subwoofer that's blown. What you have to do is remove the wire mesh from the front using a terminal flat screw driver. You will notice that there are screws around the speakers, remove them inorder to take the speakers out.Once you've done that take out the speakers gently so that you dont disconnect any wires inside.Turn the peakers over and you will see a fuse attached to the speaker.Try replacing the fuse with the asme ratings. Please refer to the image below on what the back of the peaker looks like. All the best and Good Luck.G..11_10_2011_7_05_24_pm.jpg

If you suspect your sound card, I'd need to know the model and make of your computer. If you can find out what kind of computer it is, often the manufacturers website provides you with the downloads. What you would need is an audio driver.

My logitech z-640 speakers arent

The different connectors are for 5.1 surround audio, and are for different speakers with your system.
  • The green connector is for your front-right/front-left speakers
  • The black connector is for your rear-left and rear-right speakers
  • The orange plug is for your center speaker.
Most laptops do not have support for 5-speaker audio, so if you want to test each individually, you will need to plug them in one at a time and test playing sounds through them.
Hope this helps,

I think I might have

If you can get around to the back of your PC they should be colour coded, green to green (speakers) pink to pink (mic) etc,

If they are not colour coded, play something and then get back there and move the port one by one until you hear it playing. You will definitely find the mic port easily as it should have a image of a mic stamped onto the metal by the port, its the speakers that are a bit harder to work out from the images
Let us know how you get on :)

  • Verify that all cables are plugged in correctly. Make sure the rear and/or center/sub audio cable is plugged in to the correct port. On most surround sound cards, the rear audio port is black, the front audio port is green, and the center/sub audio port is orange. If you do not have a surround sound card, make sure you obtain the proper adapter (discussed in the next paragraph) or use surround sound emulation if your speaker system offers it. If you are not sure if you have a surround sound card, please check with the manufacturer of your sound card for details.
  • Make sure your sound card supports the same amount of channels as your speaker system contains. For 4.1 systems, it should have a front and rear speaker jack on the card. For 5.1 systems, the card should have a front, rear, and center/sub, output. The card should be properly installed and configured. Please contact your sound card manufacturer for details. If you do not have a surround sound capable sound card, you can use the M3D button on the controller unit (if you own a z-560 or z-540) or use the source selector switch (if you own a z-5300 or x-620). If you do not have any of the models above, you can use an adapter to split the signal for the front and rear speakers. This type of adapter is a 3.5mm male to 2-3.5mm female jacks. You can purchase this adapter at your local electronic store. Please refer to your manual if you do not know if your speaker system can emulate surround sound.
  • Try connecting the speakers to a portable sound device such as a walkman or portable CD player. Plug the speakers into the headphone jack, but make sure the volume is lowered so the speakers are not over powered. You can do this for both the front, rear, center/sub speakers to verify that they work. If the speaker system works on the walkman, then you are experiencing a configuration issue with your sound card. Please contact your sound card manufacturer.
  • Check the system Volume Control located in the System tray. Make sure that the volumes are at a reasonable level and are not checked for Muting.
