error code 4 is vertical deflecton failure . replace the vertical deflection ic. and the electrolytic capacitors in the vertical circuit. Or if you are lucky just resolder the vetical IC and resolder th horizontal section too.

Hi,7 blinks on the model above is an error code for faulty horizontal deflection circuitry. The B+ gone to excessive current that is detected by IC5007.Fixing this kind of symptoms needs technical skills on electronics to isolate the faulty parts. Most Sony's usually always have bad regulator ics. Depending on your model, could be a mcz3001 or str ic or mxoa ic. Check for 160v across the main capacitor for 160v to see if your power supply is working. Do not use chassis ground. Use the ground on the cap.

I have the indentical tv and problem. Cost to repair was about 250.

If no HV, ic8002 is bad part# MCZ3001DB beside flyback transformer. I usually replace IC6501(regulator driver) and IC8002 at the same time, they both have the same part number. If you are not a technician think twice first before replacing because you need a very good soldering skills.

This is a common failure with this set, it is in the power supply, switch mode regulators in the ps need replaced, the repair would be typically cost around 200 - 250 from a shop to repair. if you want to fix it yourself i can get the part numbers just post back and let me know if you are a do-it-yourself er.

Seven blinks = High voltage shutdown (overcurrent protection). The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits, otherwise send the TV to a workshop for a quote on likely parts and labour costs, then make a decision afterwards about whether it is economical to repair or not.

Usually it is either the flyback transformer, the tuning capacitors in the collector circuit of the horizontal output transistor(s) as well as the transistor(s) which could be faulty. These parts should be replaced at the same time.

Short-circuit horizontal output stage - hence the 7 blinks error code from the standby LED.

I would get the TV repaired before it fails completely. Usual cause is dry joints and capacitor faults.
