Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS420 34" TV - Page 9 Questions & Answers
I have a Sony Wega KV-34HS420 TV that takes several tries to turn
Since the set appears to "recover", it suggests either a poor solder connection or bad cap somewhere in the power supply. The 7 blinks indicate the problem circuit is in the horizontal area. Check the regulator (STRxxxx) IC in the power supply. If you do not have experience working with TVs, please refer this repair to a shop. The regulator IC costs around $25.

I got given to me a sony trinitron srs 37
Your set may be set up for the wrong type of input, like "antenna" or "cable". See if you can find a "setup" or a "menu" Button on your TV. Some times it is behind a little hinged panel. When you slect that you should get a "setup" menu go through that and find and set up the correct type of input.

The picture comes on and
its a problem with loose connection in the internal power supply board and main board
try pressing all the buttons on the remote control facing the tv and keeping the tv ON.and check out.if it does not works.try this
for first unplug the mainpower cord of the tv for couple of minutes and then reconnect it.also beforereconnecting the power cord of the tv again remove all the external devicewires connected at its back such as dvd player/vcr etc etc.just connect only tvwire and check out.if still the same problem then its quite possible that thecapacitors and ic on the circuit board are getting short in between so thecircuit is not getting completed and cutting in between so the tv power ledcomes but no picture comes up..in this case the circuit board needs to bechecked with a multimeter.the faulty and burned out component part should bedetected and then should be replaced with the help of soldering iron.to make itproper.to avoid further damage i suggest you that do not on the tv again andagain as it will short some more tiny components and the reparing cost willincrease as per that.at present its the normal circuit short problem in the tvget it repaired before using the tv again.
you can get the requiredboard and components at ----- www.partstore.com -------- or from ------www.radioshack.com ----
---------
if you are not familiarwith doing this you can get it done by local tv repair technician familiar withthis model tv.
-----------
This will help. Thanks please keepupdated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

Sony trinitron
check the heater as your tv is ON, there must be a yellow light at the rear of the CRT tube. If the heater is ok then check the IC jungle side. resoldering the leads sometimes will solve. If not refer to your local Tech.

I have a Sony Trinitron KV-32HS500 that won't turn
The Power Supply/ Deflection Board is called the "D" Board. Replacing this Board should fix your problem. You can try to order one from Sony at 1800-222-SONY. If it is not available, you will need to send it to Sony for them to rebuild it. That will cost around $400.00 or so.
I hope this helps,

Can the tuner be upgraded to get digital signals?
There is no way to directly change the internal tuner to receive digital/HD signals. I would simply purchase an external tuner unit, but be sure to get one that has at least component signal outputs and is HD. You want to be able view HD & not just digital. One of the small tuner boxes would get digital, but not HD. I personally have a Digital Stream tuner with a set I own and have been very pleased with it. The tuner has many extra features and also has an NTSC output I use for recording with a regular vcr. Shop for an HD tuner unit. You will be impressed by the kind of performance you will get from this set.

Fd trintron won't turn on
There are some IC's in the power supply that are going bad. This is a pretty complicated repair. You may want to have a repair shop check it out for you. Thanks

My KV-34HS420 won't come on and the Standby light
The system has found issues with your TV.. The only solution is to call in service. Tell them the 6 blinks.. it is a code for diagnostics. Sorry.. the logic portion of the TV is experiencing some kind of breakdown. The only suggestion that I can offer is to hard reset your TV to factory settings.. other than that you are in duck soup..
Sorry...

My sony kdfe50a10 keeps going into standby then
Mine would power up. It would then shut down with green light flashing and then repeat cycle. Lamp indicator was off. However, I replaced the lamp anyway and cleaned out the housing. It now works great. I got the lamp directly from Sony. Easy fix.

Sony Grand Wega KDF-E50A10
The lamp light does not have to flash on this set for it to be the lamp, and most likely it is just that, the lamp. These sets when the lamps get weak they will do exactly what yours is doing.

When you hit the power button you can hear it
Any malfunction associated with an automatic shut down usually indicates a
circuit problem or defective component. Unfortunately, the days of taking off the back
cover of your TV and replacing a defective tube or fuse are long gone.
Proper servicing will require troubleshooting procedures that can only
be performed by a qualified electronic repair facility or professional
television repair person. Ask for an estimate and a realistic appraisal
of whether the set can be adequately fixed. Depending on the age and
condition of your TV it may not be cost effective to repair.
