Sylvania SRD3900 DVD Player/VCR - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Can I obtain a new Remote Control for my Sylvania
You can try a number of possibilities. Search for the model and name on the internet. It will turn up lots of info and possible used parts. Ebay is very good. And you will likely turn up the manufactures site with a possible replacement part. Expect it to be very expensive compared to a used part. You can try the universal controlers but get one that learns new commands. There is a modest chance you can find an identical unit and program it from the that. Ask sears to let you use the floor model. If the unit is still working but not reliably, you program each key and keep trying till each key works on the universal.

I have a Sylvania SRD3900 DVD Player / VCR Combo
The tracking needs to be adjusted. Sometimes it's a knob on the VCR, and sometimes it's a control on the remote. Adjust it for the best picture, and the sound shoud be restored.
Good luck, and hope this helps..
Sylvania srd3900 error 2
Found no info in manual but cleaned tape heads and able to watch tapes. I don't know if this completely fixed problem because tape watched was not best quality.
Error 2
my vhs/dvd combo sylvania shows error 2 how do i fix this
Dvd loading
mine kinda has the same problem but it only happens with one movie Hairspray but it doesn't say error it just says loading for hours until i restart this system in order to get the DVD out. Need Help!!
ERROR CODES
If you are trying to record vhs tapes to the dvr side, first you need to get 1x up to 8x DVD-R dvds. You can find them on ebay. The machine has problems recognizing the up to 16x type. Put the blank DVD in and let it load. Then start playing (not dubbing but playing) the videotape for at least 6-8 seconds. If you have somewhat of a lead-in on the videotape you can let it go even 10 seconds. Only after the videotape has been playing for this period of time, press the dubbing button. If the error code does come up, rewind the tape and start again, but in most cases the error code will not happen if you do it like this.
VCR side doesn't show video
Hiya!
I'm noticing a lot of these combo players use an s-video connector for the DVD, but the VCR output can only use Composite video. Check the back of your player and make sure that the video-out from the vcr side is connected correctly. The cables from the vcr side should look like this (yellow is the video):
Good luck!
My vcr doesnt work
the few things you could do are these, use a different tape see if that works and tip the vcr upside down while power is off see if you here anything clink around.

set start time (i usually go 5 mins prior)
set end time (i usually go 5 mins after)
set channel number
set tape speed
exit by pressing clear/c reset

I can't get my dvd to load
Do you get this error with every disc, or with a specific one?
could it be possible that the discs in question have certain features on them that can't be used with your player? such as audio tracks, subs, angles etc?
If you're burning discs, always do so in 2x or 4x, turn off all other programs while ripping/burning.
Try other discs and post back if you have any more info
I have an old Sylvania tv and it won't turn on
Here are some troubleshooting tips to try. However, as it is an older set, if these tips fail, the cost of a repair at a shop might exceed the value of the TV. In short, a new TV may be in the works. Cross your fingers. One of these tips may work.
Let's troubleshoot the issue and try to get it working:
If you are using a remote, check the batteries in it. If you are using several remotes with it, try the alternative remote. Sometimes there is a glitch affecting the remote for a Roku where it won't turn on the TV other than a powered black screen and you have to use the other remote to turn it off and back on and then the Roku screen pops up. I have not sorted out why.
Check Power Cord and Connections:
First, ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the TV and the electrical outlet.
If you suspect a faulty power cord, consider trying a different one.
Reset the TV:
While most Sylvania TVs don't have a dedicated reset button, you can perform a manual reset:
Unplug the TV's AC adapter from the electrical socket.
Press and hold the Power button on the TV for 20 seconds.
Plug the AC adapter back in and turn on the TV.
Check Audio/Video Cables:
Inspect the audio/video cables connecting your TV to the satellite or cable receiver.
Ensure that the color-coded prongs match their respective connecting points.
Correct any mismatches (e.g., white cable into a red port) by reorganizing the prongs.
Inspect Coaxial Cable:
Look for the coaxial cable on the rear side of the receiver, attached to the port labeled as ANT IN.
Confirm that the connection is firm; a loose coaxial connection can cause display issues.
Tighten the cable by pinching the silver band on the end and rotating it clockwise until secure.
Check for Interference:
If distortion continues on the TV screen, consider nearby interference.
Power-hungry appliances can cause electronic interference, affecting display quality.
Visit a Repair Shop:
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you may need professional help.
Some technical faults, such as a blown fuse or faulty capacitor, require expertise in dismantling and soldering.
If uncomfortable with such tasks, consider visiting a repair shop

- Press and hold the "Code Search" button on your Philips remote until the indicator light stays on.
- Press the "TV" button on the remote to set it to control the TV.
- Press the "Power" button repeatedly until the TV turns off.
- Press the "OK" or "Enter" button to save the code.
- Manual Code Entry:
- Find the code for your Sylvania TV in the Philips remote control manual. If you don't have the manual, you may be able to find it on the Philips website.
- Turn on your Sylvania TV.
- Press and hold the "Code Search" button on the remote until the indicator light stays on.
- Enter the code using the number buttons on the remote.
- Test if the remote now controls your TV. If not, repeat the process with a different code.
- Try Common Codes:
- Some common Sylvania TV remote codes for Philips remotes are 0810, 1684, 1886, 2183, 1081, 1172, 1196, and 2049. Try entering these codes manually.
