Tv wont turn on a reparman said capasitors
Typical problem. Blown or bulging capacitors. Id take his word. Find a small repair shop that does board level repair and take it to them to have them replace the bad capacitors.

I have a Philips 50"
Hi
The X, Y sustain, buffer boards controls
picture, fires the gas, and many others functions. Common problems include
negative image, no image, vertical or horizontal stripes on picture, turns on
and than turns off, and many more. Technically they are completely new
electronic devices, nothing before built to compare with. It is always better
to replace both sustain boards on any models. These boards will cost you around
$300-$400 including labor charges.
Please do accept the solution
if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
Thanks
Rylee

Having problems turning on 2 year old Phillips
Philips TVs tend to have issues with bad capacitors in their power supplies. Failing capacitors tend to have slightly different ESR (equivalent series resistance) values when they have been left off, versus after they are warmed up and charged up. Either a new power supply board or replacement of the faulty capacitors will fix the problem.

My plasma tv has to be un plugged and plugged
Sounds like a dry joint or similar problem on one of the circuit boards in the set.
These can be difficult to find, but a skilled repairman could possibly fix it.
Good luck.

The TV normally has a green light illuminated in
Philips Televisions are legendary for having faulty power supply capacitors.
In order to prevent really bad things from happening, the TV does a two-stage power-on. It first does a basic diagnostic test, and if that fails, it stops it from going any further.
Philips tends to use cheap capacitors, use capacitors that are somewhat under-sized for the job, and also seems to be pretty bad at soldering.
Personally I've got my Philips LCD TV opened up on my workbench for that exact problem.
Most repair shops would replace the whole power supply board ($150-200 part plus labor), while most DIY fixers take a stab at replacing the obviously bulging and failed caps for less than $10.

Tv screen turned blank but there is sound
If you are running normal rca (red, yellow, white) for your reception try fiddling with the yellow one. this is your video feed. If they are component cables (red, blue, green, red, white) make sure that the reds arent mixed up and if its and hdmi cable it may just be faulty. Try replacing it. hope this helps

Philips 42
Vertical rainbow lines and TV powers off and repeats this cycle? Sounds like a bad logic board. This board costs for $70, but it would be better to contact the manufacturer for second opinion if the TV is still under the warranty period.
Check the link below to see how a Philips Logic Board looks like:

I have a Philips 42 in. Plasma Television
The TV is going into Protection Mode. When a failed part occurs inside the TV, it will turn itself OFF automatically to prevent further damage to other components. I'm sure the red light is blinking a code also.
Most likely the problem is occurring on the Backlight Inverter Board or the Main Power Supply. The Backlight Inverter Board is what brings power to the screen. The Main Power Supply is what brings power to all the circuit boards in the TV.
I would use the warranty if there is any to fix the TV. The repair shop may charge a crazy price to fix the problem.
If you have some electronic experience and you want to fix it yourself, you can sometimes find a Service Manual over the internet for less than $20. It will have red light blink codes, diagrams, schematics, and part numbers for every part on the boards. Replacement parts can be found by using the part numbers for the search on the internet. Most parts cost less than $10. Whole replacement boards can be found at a good price at Shopjimmy.com.

Philips.com should have a software upgrade for your TV to fix the problem.
This is a common problem with Philips TVs and they have made upgrade software to address the problem.
Go to the Philips web site and all the procedures for download to your TV will be there. The only thing you will need to this is a USB memory stick. Download should be FREE.
