Does this TV have an HDMI output?

Hi there,

In answer to your question of does this tv have an HDMI output? I'm afraid to say that it doesn't, it has two HDMI inputs only, I read through the specifications and viewed the layout at the rear of the tv for confirmation.

Hope this answers your question,

James

I keep getting a very high pitched noise / buzzing

The power supply is a switching mode power supply. They work at high frequencies. Sometimes they produce harmonics that can be heard by people. The power supply may need to be replaced if it get really bad.

I have a Philips Plasma

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Red blinks in your Philips Plasma 42PF7321D/37 means there is some issue with the power supply unit for the TV. You’ll need to open the back of the TV and start by checking the capacitors on the power supply board as if they are bad they need to be replaced. Usually this kind of issue happens after 3-4 years with Plasma. Also check C8059 and C8060 on the power supply unit. As power supply board is the hardest working board in a plasma TV, it develops voltage to supply all components, high current + high voltage. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when switched off. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

42 inch philips plasma just turns itself off. when

There can be several causes for this, few of which you can do anything about. However, a few things to try:

1) Replace the batteries on your remote control.
2) Try resetting the logic functions on your tv by unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back in.
3) Try covering up the infra-red receptor on the front of your TV to see if you're getting unwanted signals from the receptor. taping a piece of foil over that area is perfect. If it doesn't stop after doing these two things you'll probably need to take it to a shop.
4) If this does stop it, then look for unexpected signal sources. Have you added a remote control extender? Added a new device to your audio-video system? Changed to a new remote?

I hope this helps. Joe

I have a Philips Plasma

If it blinks 4 times, pauses, then blinks 4 times again and keeps repeating that pattern then you have an issue with the power supply section. There are 2 specific capacitors that need to be checked as well as certain solder joints that need to be checked as well. If you have the experience and tools you can get a copy of the service manual and make the repairs yourself. There are lethal voltages inside the display so if you haven't done this type of repair before it would be better to have your local tech take a look at it. Most will charge you a minimum of 1 hour labor to diagnose the issue. With the cost of the plasma TV's dropping as fast as they have you might be better off replacing it rather than trying to repair it.

My philips flat screen has sound but no picture

Hello Bobby, hi, well, most common solutions, would be to tighten all screws, and clean contacts of the main board to the LCD panel due to poor connections.
One possibility is: Do you have LCD illumination? If the LCD is totally black, you may need to replace the inverter board.

Or : You need to open up the back cover and locate the main board, (usually the biggest circuit board), try to loosen and then tighten the screws, check for good contacts, make sure all cables are tight and neat (especially the cable from the LCD panel to the main board), then test.
Or this may be: Check also for loose cables from the power supply board, a loose cable here can cause several portions of the main board to fail so make sure they are snug and tight.
Worst is: If the unit does not respond, you may need to bring it for service, I see replacement of the main board.

5 year old plasma that looses half the picture

Hello. I recommend that you forget the repair for two reasons. 1. Pricey. 2. You still have a 5 year old set with no warranty. In the last five years, the tv technology has come so far. The HD is fabulous. The new sets cost less to operate and they are so much better than they were five years ago. Joe

I have a philips plasma

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. A plasma TV is a very hard working device. It is working harder than any TV that has been built before, and as a result it produces a lot of heat. 75% of technical problems in plasma TV's are caused by overheating problems. X, Y sustain, buffer boards controls picture, fires the gas, and many others functions. When either of these boards goes bad common problems include negative image, no image, vertical or horizontal stripes on picture, turns on and than turns off, and many more. You’ll need to open the back off the TV and check for any swollen/bulged/leaky capacitors on these boards and replace whichever has gone bad. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when switched off.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
