My problem is pretty simple. The menu screen for my 42" Philips plasma TV keeps popping up on the screen. I press the menu button on the remote to exit, but the menu pops right back up after a couple seconds. I've tried unplugging the TV for the night hoping it would "reboot" when plugged back in.....didn't work. I thought maybe it was a problem in the remote, so I took the batteries out......still kept popping up. I'm out of ideas! HELP!
The most commom causes are One. There ia a stuck button on the tv itself. The Menu button. The membrane switch or the TACT switch is bad and needs to be replaced. The Main bd can also be bad.

I had the problem with the blinking Red LED light in the front and then I read on philips website this :"
The latest software solves the issues below:
The probleis with one of the maina boards and trouble shooting would have to be done to see which board is bad.

Power comes on but no picture. You can hear clicking when pressing the power button.
On back of set, when looking through cooling slots you can see some green LEDs...four, I think. One blinks constantly, and the other three are on steady.
I love this TV and I really would like to fix it. HELP!

When the Tv is on an all black screen of a movie or tv, it looks like there is red pixels firing, it looks like red sand hitting the screen. Please help.
Most likey its a bad panel, you can try adjusting VS voltage on Y main board, if this is to complex you will need a tech

I just replaced my SBB because the red light in front was blinking 4 times. Now the red light blinks 5 long, 3 short. The green LED on the power board blinks once, which represents "VA". Any suggestions?
replacing ssb for 4 blink error was correct as error is communication failure specific to micro processor on ssb. getting an alternate error after replacing ssb would suggest either wrong ssb or defective ssb. verify vendor number on ssb tuner on original and new ssb and if same reorder that board and if not order per original board

my philips flat screen has sound but no picture all of a sudden what could be the problem?
Hello Bobby, hi, well, most common solutions, would be to tighten all screws, and clean contacts of the main board to the LCD panel due to poor connections.
One possibility is:
Do you have LCD illumination? If the LCD is totally black, you may need to replace the inverter board.
Or :
You need to open up the back cover and locate the main board, (usually the biggest circuit board), try to loosen and then tighten the screws, check for good contacts, make sure all cables are tight and neat (especially the cable from the LCD panel to the main board), then test.
Or this may be:
Check also for loose cables from the power supply board, a loose cable here can cause several portions of the main board to fail so make sure they are snug and tight.
Worst is:
If the unit does not respond, you may need to bring it for service, I see replacement of the main board.

First, the sound works, but the screen is blank but flashing a smear of reddish image on a regular basis. Now, the green light has gone off, and nothing is coming through for sound or screen, but there is a red flashing light that flashes in a sequence of seven flashes, an extended pause, and then seven more flashes, etc.
What's up?

TV turned off during the night (I fell asleep) and I awoke in the middle of the night to the power light blinking red 7 times in succession over and over again. Do you know what that means?
Is the light blinking 7 times on front of TV ? If u take the back cover of the TV off you should see two leds on the bottom right of power supply turn on when u push the power button. When the TV go into error protection on the upper left of power supply you should see. A blinking green light. Please inform me of the error it flashes and ill will be able to help further. ( Serveral possiblilties it could be from audio, bad power, and faulty Y-main.)

I have 2 of these TV's
1st one the light blinks 7 times and won't turn on
2nd one the light flashes 3 fast flashes and 7 short flashes
Would anybody have any idea besides throwing them out, would it be worth fixing them?
I have the same problem, except with a Philips 50 inch model 50PF9631D/37, except mine sometimes does 6 long flashes and 3 short. Here is what I found, after MUCH online and other research:
It is probably the Power Supply board. One other indicator that it is the power supply board is that if you unplug it for a minute or so, and then plug it back in, it might start up and stay running until you shut it off again (that is what mine would do). Mine eventually would not come back on after repeated unplugging. I have learned that the reason for this is leaking capacitors on the Power Supply Board. If they are really bad (like mine eventually were), the TV will not come on at all. The reason it will stay running once it is going is that there is a separate set of circuitry for the TV once it is going.
I UNPLUGGED my tv and waited 1 hour (for capacitors to hopefully discharge), and then opened up the back of the TV (all you need is a "Torx" (also known as star-head screwdriver, with 2 different sized bits (buy multiple bits if necessary, they are cheap and I don't remember the sizes).
PLEASE NOTE: Even unplugged, TV's have capacitors which store large amounts of electricity which can discharge quickly and kill you. Be very careful. One website suggested wearing special, high-voltage rubber gloves.
The Power supply board is the big computer-looking board in the center. I stared at mine for 15 minutes and was able to notice 2 capacitors with slightly bulged tops. I have learned that this is a common problem with these boards. All you need to do to remove the board (at least with mine) is to carefully (there is a little clippy thingy on the bigger ones) unplug the wires connected to it, and unscrew the screws holding it in with a phillips-head screwdriver.
I was able to find a replacement board at various places on the internet, but the best was BestBuyParts. I found they had 1 Original Board for mine for $300, an updated replacement for $300, and a refurbished replacement for $205. I ordered the refurbished one and will let you know my success when I get it. Interestingly, the original board was made by Samsung!
Interesting side note: I tried to simply replace the $1.00 capacitors on the board to save money, but they are REALLY hard to find. I finally found that the original capacitors, made by Samwha, are no longer sold as 105 degree celcius capacitors, but are now listed as 85 degree capacitors, and their 105 degree replacement is now back-ordered. I have also ordered approximate substitutions, to see if I can save the old board. Bottom line: It looks like Philips bought the board from Samsung, who got some bad capacitors from Samwha, and we all pay the price.
Finally, check to see if there is a recall. 12,000 Philips TV's with Ambilight have bad capacitors which are sparking and have been recalled. I doubt it is related, but I bet I know who manufactured those bad capacitors.
