MPEG4

MPEG-4 is a graphics and video compression algorithm standard that is based on MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and Apple QuickTime technology. Wavelet-based MPEG-4 files are smaller than JPEG or QuickTime files, so they are designed to transmit video and images over a narrower bandwidth and can mix video with text, graphics and 2-D and 3-D animation layers.

PC shuts down when c-770 is conected via USB

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

It likes to kill batteries,

Unfortunately there is no real solution to this problem other than keeping extra batteries to switch out for the dead ones if you are shooting for a while. Here is what your camera's manual has to say about short battery life:

The battery run time is brief. You are using the camera in a cold environment. Battery performance deteriorates in low temperatures. Keep the camera warm by putting it inside your coat or clothing. - The remaining battery power is not indicated correctly. When battery consumption fluctuates considerably, the camera may turn off without displaying the battery

Where do I buy more memory for my c 770 camera?

Olympus cameras have a special memory card called xD-Picture Card. You can buy these cards from any cameras shop or from eBay (probably cheaper although they are more expensive than the regular cards).

Camera has never be damaged

When you take a picture can you download it to your computer and see the picture? If you can see the picture then most likely the lcd itself or a connection inside the camera is bad. If you can't see the picture on your computer then the imaging sensor has gone bad. Being that this is a 6 year old 4 megapixel camera, it is not worth repair as you can get a comparable replacement that has easily twice the mega pixels for about 70-80$.
Thank you,
Lee

Camedia software does not recognize connection to

Did you install all software that came with your camera? If so, you should've seen a balloon on the bottom right corner of the computer screen saying the software was "successfully installed and ready to use" at the time of installation. Try this, then turn on the camera and connect it to the computer. The message doesn't go away because it's constantly looking for a connection to your computer, which your computer isn't detecting and is most likely that the proper drivers (which are in the CD) were not installed.

My photos are blurred 60% of the time. I think it

Make sure that you have short enough exposure. I have taken steady shots with 1/8s and with some support (wall, table or similar) even 1/2s. Normally slower than 1/30s makes pictures blurred.
When shooting, don't **** the camera, but squeeze the trigger - your shots will improve. Trust me.
