My screen keep showing the Card Cover Open Error even though the cover is closed

Somewhere on the door will be a small piece of plastic which when the door is closed makes contact with a microswitch which tells the camera the door is closed. Either this switch has broken or the piece of plastic has. Somewhere within the memory card receptacle you should find a small hole where the piece of plastic enters when the door is shut. Switch the camera on, leave the door open and push a wooden match or something of a suitable size made of plastic into this hole (be gentle) if the "door open" sign clears then the problem is with the prod built into the door. If it doesn't clear then the problem is with the switch. Actually this switch can be disabled or continually shorted out if it proves to be faulty. I have had a camera come in for an unrelated repair with the hole blocked up with plastacine to hold the swich closed. IT WORKED Stu

Normally you select a folder on your computer to download images to - if this is causing problems, your computer manual should help.

The top and right hand buttons on 4 button selector intermittent

There can be many causes, why the buttons don't work as the should. Also a bad connection, on a PCB or flat cable can be the cause. If you want to repair it yourself, visit ifixit dot com, there you can see manuals and videos about how to open a camera and where to look for.

Download for windows vista

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I don't have the disk.

Hello there,

Have you tried viewing your camera's drive using Windows Explorer? Connect the camera using your usb cable to the computer. Then RIGHT click on the windows Start button and choose Explore to open windows explorer. On the window divided into two sections, look for the Computer or My Computer from the left. Under it, look for the drive letter associated with your camera. Then click on it to show the contents of the right. Now look for the folder containing your pictures then copy them on your local drive. Please take note that your camera should be in playback mode not shooting mode.

Hope this helps. THank you for using FixYa.
