It won't work if the radio doesn't have a cd changer input. The radio/receiver has to have been designed/programmed to interface with the changer since that is what the changer is controlled through.

Try tapping on the changer. Sometimes a gear gets stuck inside the changer and tapping on the changer frees the gear.

Your unit is an Alpine made charger. In them E01 is mechanical failure of the disk mechanism.
This can be fixed only by completely replacing the entire mechanism. A new one is out of the question (it would cost more than an entire new charger) so you must locate a faulty charger and recover the mechanism from it. The replacement procedure is quite complicated, so if you can't do it yourself (it requires a good experience in electronics) the unit is effectively dead - the repair would be too expensive. Time for a good second-hand one like

You should still be able to install it with the magazine still in the changer.
