are you also aware that this is a common problem with 42" LG Many were recalloed for this fault. Get onto LG and see if you can get it replaced under recall.

it has power section in side your tv .We called it power adapter

for sure your tv dont have any ********?he he he....check where vibtation noise from but if it comes form inside the best solution is to bring your tv to a LG repair technician .

it is problem high voltage unite problem (EHT) change it then solve your problem

I comiserate with you, yes things lasted well in many cases on older electronic items. Brands were proud to announce that there item was reliable etc etc.

This is a known problem in LG TV's
and these are the parts that are the basis of many service calls top LG for a fix
Overall cost for parts is about $700 + labour.

Contact LG direct and explain the probloem, you can tell them that it would appear thyere are at least 200 people who have experienced this problem.

there are toshiba and LGs that use the same boards, but I would only mention LG in your case.

I don't know how that can happen when it's a year old marc. I cant' help much on that.

the main total assy might be the problem. it controls color, pix size and such.

x and y drivers on the screen ,or shorted power supply

If you or your husband have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

Try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.
If that doesn't work, most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The pop sound you herd was a blown capacitor, Open the back cover and check the main capacitor in power supply, It need replacement. But first check if the oil of the capacitor drop on the circuit then it must first cleaned then dry the area where the oil of capacitor spread.

Go into your picture set up menu, which should be in the main menu for the TV, and change your aspect ratio.

No! have a LG service center look at it.

Replace the timer control board.
