try taking the housing off the machine and inspect to see if the tape has been wraped up in the drive or tension pully. chances are that the tape has jamed up. you will have to cut tape out.
not the case of the tape but the ribbon itself.

Your model is a DVD player only and has no recording capability. There are devices that will allow you to transfer your VHS tapes to a computer equipped with a CD/DVD writer to preserve them on disk.

The processor in your player may have gotten scrambled from the power outage. Try pulling the AC plug and letting it stew in its own powerless juices overnight and then try it again. BTW, there is no 'needle' in any player; they use a tightly focused laser beam to read the disc.

You could have just a dirty lens that will require you to remove the cover of the player, clean the glass laser eye lens with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. This usually always work, unless of course the laser circuit is faulty, then it will need to be replaced.

I have the same machine and I've used Memorex DVD-RW 2X/4.7gb/120min dvd's for a long time. The newer ones at Officemax are 4x, 8x, 16x and 52x they won't work. I think they have to be 2x only!!!

First thing to try is a fresh set of batteries.
If you can operate these buttons on the main dvd then its a problem with the remote.
If the product is new contact the manufacturer with the fault.
The other thing is go into a supermarket/handy store and ask for a remote that will replace the duff one.

Sansui 0000, 0240, 0479 (for TV use 0463)

check the video jacks make sure it is properly fitted if it still don't work remove and plug the video jack again or clean the two end of the jack and the video jack slot on your tv and player or replace the jack. If it still don't work. try other dvd or the device has a problem.

This types of problems or to say errors occur due to some corrupt CD. Please try to install the same CD in another computer. If you see it is not installing then understand that the CD is corrupt. you can contact SANSUI, but the easier way is to buy a generic one and program it, alot cheaper, and walmart has them

to make it easier also, but a USB programmable one that logitech has, this can control pretty much the whole house, but costs about $200.
