The problem may lie with the format of the disk, is the disk a
DVD-R -, or a DVD-R+?. if it was a bought DVD, it may be the wrong regon (i dont know how to spell the aforesaid word), a bad copy, a dirty reader, a dusty DVD, or your player.

Did you finalize the DVD disc after you recorded it? If not put it back into the unit and Finalize it P.27 manual " Setting the Disc" and it should play in all playback units. DD

There is no solution for your problem. I thought my 4500 wouldn't finalize also but what is happening is that it didn't record on the disc you used. This is an older model unit and will not record on 16x discs. I believe you are boinked.

Mine did the same thing for awhile... and for some reason if I hit the "DVD/VCR" button and the "input" button at the same time it would start working again... you could try that, but I am no expert!

talk with your insurence company..and then buy a new-one..it is possible that the digital mp decoder circuit is damaged by the accident...good luck...Ron

there is a detection switch in the back of the unit it need to be cleaned or replaced.

Probably the only thing you can do is get a cd/dvd lens cleaning kit and try cleaning the lens.

If that doesn't work, your dvd player probably needs replaced.

when you have warranty why do you want to fix it yourself?

turn the power on. to get rid of the red light you need to press the timer/rec button on the remote until it turns off. the red light means it is programed to record.

if you can get to the operations menu page, after selecting on or off next to parental lock, press stop button four times then press enter this should clear the security code. press the number keys to create a new code press enter.

Is the vhs tape copy protected? I think you can only copy your own vhs tapes or what you record on tv. I could be wrong though.

I'm afraid there isn't one.

As i recall, +r's will only format in dvd vr, the unit does not like high speed recording disks. switch to dvd drive - insert blank disk - if no format screen - goto (on remote) setup - onscreen menu - system setup - disc setup - new disk format - hit center button in ring on remote to change to vr or move up to reformat as vr. once disk is formatted, use record speed button on remote to set record speed 1,2,4,6 hr then switch to tape deck with tape in and stopped at begining, on remote hit dubbing, it will ask you confirm dubbing vhs-dvd .... toggle over to yes & hit center button... away you should go... c245 is a copyguarded tape.

First off, be sure that you are on the channel that you want to record!!
Press the setup button, the SETUP menu screen appears.
Select "timer rec set".
Then another screen comes up... select "new"
Enter your times, dates, etc.
