That error code is actually a communication error caused by no response from the called station or a misdialed number. Make sure the number is correct and redial it.

I don't believe there is anything wrong with your fax machine. I think the receiving party may have a DIGITAL phone line.

If you can make a full copy with your machine then, your machine is OK.

Download the user manual from the manufactures website, I provided the link below. Jam removal instructions start on page 4-12. If you follow the instruction and the printer still indicates a jam then you may have a bad switch or a switch that is stuck down.

TK-40 Toner Cartridge

You have a jam in the FUSER.

Based on your discription it is the process unit. The toner cartridge wont cuase spots on this machine.

Open the top cover and remove the toner cartridge.

Unplug the power cord
hold down the ENERGY SAVER KEY while plugging back in
display should say RAM INITIALIZE
scroll down to SHIPMENT SET
press SET
press 2

Wait for the machine to reinitialize.

I called Kyocera suppor today. They say this is a known problem with the sensor that a dealer has to fix.

The error code C3800 on a Kyocera 3212i printer indicates an AFE error. This error occurs when writing data and reading data does not match 3 times continuously, or there is no response from AFE for 100ms. I would check the connection to the main board as a backup error code can be caused by intermittant connectors.

Question edited for a lot more clarity. Question moved to Kyocera. Nothing to do with a fax card, just make sure the back door is closed. It is normally called the 'Bypass Door' and gives card stock a flat run.
