Vertical half screen gets darker

There's a board in the middle of the set ( back taken off) near the bottom of the screen. It has 2 flat ribbon cables that go to the screen. It is under a metal heat sink. That's the board that's causing the problem. www.shopjimmy.com has the board for a very reasonable price. Takes about 15 minutes to change.
