I unscrewed the part over the light bulb, than the smaller part that holds the thread tension bit and a small coil fell off, I don't know where it goes back, can I find anywhere a diagram of the machi

I cannot help and doubt a diagram could be found with that much detail but you could try the manufacturer. I suspect that the coil had been around the screw you removed or in the screw hole.

I have lost the instruction manual

check out this previous solution on your model Janomehttp://www.fixya.com/support/t306170-new_home_janome_harmony_2039I've looked in all the usual free manual places and on the Janome website and can't see it listed so probably best to go to the source, Janome themselves.

What is pressure foot on

This is the foot that comes down and holds the fabric layers under the needle.

There will be a pressure foot lever to raise and lower the pressure foot at the back of the sewing area, it usually operates vertically, although some makes have a lever that works horizontally.

The pressure foot needs to be lowered BEFORE you start stitching as it activates the top tension and also helps with the stitch formation by holding the fabric firmly as the needle moves up and down.

You can read some general sewing machine info at www.sewing.about.com too.

It has not been under tension when the seam was sewn, check your bobbin threading sequence and refer to your manual. The thread needs to click into a tension spring or similar device on all sewing machines.

How do I get thread from bobbin to come up?

You have to thread up the machine before that can happen... Wind the bobbin first Then thread the machine properly After that put the bobbin in the bobbin holder And place it in the shuttle make sure the notch on the bobbin holder is the right way... Then all u do is wind the wheel on the side of the machine towards yourself and it should come up, quite magical I suppose...

Hi
You can download manuals for some machines from the Janome site. (www.janome.com)
I couldn't find your model listed there, even in the retired machines section!
I did find this manual for the 3128, which looks quite similar. It should help you with the basics, threading etc. Hope this helps!

Tension dial on my sewing machine is not working

Hi, Liz. When you adjust your tension, be sure the pressure foot is down. The pressure foot needs to be up when you thread the machine so the thread will slip easily between the tension disks, but when you adjust the tension the disks have to be tight (pressure foot down).

There are other possibilities, but this is the best place to start running the problem down. Please let me know if this does the trick, ok, and if not, we can try something ele.

Happy Sewing
