I broke my laptop screen for my HP pavilion

Find a different computer-store with a qualified technician,
rather than risking your laptop, if you don't know 'HOW' to do it CORRECTLY and SAFELY.

Since you seem to have "saved" a bundle already,
spend some of those "savings" by renting the technician's services.

Last week, a local computer-store replaced my laptop's LCD screen,
and charged me for "one hour of labour", namely $60.

The store could have supplied a brand-new LCD screen for $200,
but they had a "used" screen on-hand, for $100.

So, "$500" seems far too expensive.

Updates not configured correctly Reverting

uninstall the updates : if you are using vista then go to contolpanel, click on programs, and then programs and features, and on the right hand side panel you would find view installed updates, select all of them or those which you know are causing the problem , and uninstall them , and also go to windows update in the control panel and then click on change settings and then click on check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them..

No sound when online videos are playing

Online sounds is wrong redirected, it's typically a software whose blocking it. Try to retrieve every update you've done since it started.
You can still download online video and watched it later , free flv converter is a good working soft for that, but for messenger/yahoo/skype... you still have to check again all soft who are using online sounds and maybe uninstall...
good luck

In the past 2 weeks my machine has been freezing

Hi

It could be some spyware or a rootkit that is doing this. I would suggest taking it to a reputable computer shop and have it professionally serviced.

Anyone can remove spyware but the damage it sometimes does to Windows files cant be reapired without good knowledge.

Can't get wireless adaptor blue light to turn on.

if its still under warranty get in touch with HP they have had hardware issues with this
there are things you can try
START>All Programs>accessories right click command prompt and left click run as administrator In window that opens enter at command prompt sfc/scannow
this will scan all your windows OS and replace any corrupt files/ registry Entry
you can go to device manager and uninstall the drivers the issue or problem is that the driver simply dissapears (which says to me hardware fault) there is a trick to remove old drivers on vista that naturally you wont see

click Start> RIGHT Click computer> select PROPERTIES>click ADVANCE (tab) you will see ENVIROMENT VARIABLES (button) click this system variables box click NEW button box should appear
type in NAME BOX
devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
type in VALUE BOX
1
CLICK OK
right click computer select manage>device manager click VIEW show hidden devices
to remove right click specific device select uninstall

hope some or any of this helps, if i can help further i will try hp also and if all fails could be a dongle, i still say its a hardware fault and HP should do a recall.

Hp 1245dx backlight not working on keyboard. was

the inverter is likely disconnected, loose, or burnt out. You can purchase a replacement on ebay for your specific model. Then carefully unscrew the plastic frame around your screen until you find identical looking part. Inverter (looks like small flourescent tube) is usually connected via plug-in connectors and doesn't require soldering. Hope this helps.

I can't log on to my computer it is saying that

In start mode, go to the control panel and make another user and see if that user will load normal. If it can, then you may have a virus of malware and I will include more info below for that.

Possible Virus and Malware

There is a good chance that you have a virus or malware that is keeping those programs from opening. It does not matter these days what security you have if the door to the web is opened. At the end of this are two links to programs that you should load up and run. The first is MalwareBytes Ant-Malware Tool, the other is Avast Anti-Virus 4.8, install these two and let them perform scans.

Run MalwareBytes first and perform a quick scan, when it finishes, it will ask you to post the results, when it does delete everything it finds.
Run Avast and install it, when it asks, go ahead and schedule a pre-boot scan of your entire system. This should get rid of most problems….Now, you will have to get rid of Norton because that too may be the root of some of these problems just because of the name. I’ll include a Norton removal tool to install and run. Good Luck…..

Hp dv7-1245x wont power up

> Take out the battery and adapter, make the notebook as stand alone which means it should be connected to any external devices like mouse , ethernet, monitor. Once done press and hold the power button for 1-2 mins (with out any power). later power on the unit only with the adapter> That should work out

> If not try with the diff adapter and check whether its powering on or not - if the unit powers on with the diff adapter - you can replace the adapter.

>If that does not work - Try reseating the memory which means take it out and put it back on.

>If that does not work, time to replace the system board

Cd\dvd burner problem

I would download the latest drivers for the burner. Make sure it is enabled in your device manager. Then, I would test the burner by creating a burnlist in windows media player, select things to burn and drag and drop them into your burn list, then hit burn and see what happens
