Check the oil level in the gearbox. The only thing that would make that kind of noise is a bearing going dry / bad. Use 10w40 motor oil in the gearbox. NEVER use synthetic oil. Synthetics can screw up the clutch.

Yes it is possible to make it work,he has to dis assemble carb slide anyway,so while it is apart he can try it,should work though, doesnt hurt to give it a try.

DOES NOT WANT TO START GOOD, BUT RUNS FINE. HOT WEATHER YOU CAN GET STARTED, BUT COLD WEATHER FORGET IT. ADJUSTING CARB DOESN'T SEEM TO HELP.

Its a 4 stroke trail bike. They never like to start when its cold. Just make sure the plug is good and make sure the choke is actually working. Other than that, kick it until you get mad, then kick it some more and it will eventually start.

Would mobil 1 synthetic 10w40 be a safe alternative for a 1989 fzr1000 with 14000kms?

Good quality oil is the cheapest form of insurance!!!
there are realy great synthetic oils around now!
it also depends on the weather extremes that you ride in!!
10 w 40 is a safe bet!

Starting

Hi MeenAMDude!
Check the battery connections, make sure they are tight and secure, and also look at the starter relay (underhood). It sounds like the starter is not getting a strong enough electrical shot to fully engage... If these are OK, replace the starter! Person who checked the starter checked it when cold, when it DOES work--- They might not get the same results with the starter hot!

Hope this helps and good luck!
