Hi, Michael assuming you meant minus 20 c after sitting for a week you hear a one time metal on metal abnormal noise for a few seconds is something you document with all the pertinent details and move on, if it happens again document that incident and compare the two, if it happens a third time take your bike and documentation to your local dealer for analyses. My advice is to switch to a synthetic oil Mobil 1 or Amsoil if you are currently using a nonsynthetic. Hi, Denis if you take your bike to a dealer for a specific issue that costs outrageous amounts of money only to have the same problem 2 days later your situation is not unique unfortunately and it is a double edged sword. First, you suffer the emotional stress and frustration of spending all your hard earned "Drachma" and your bike does not get fixed. Second, comes the realization that not only are the technicians incompetent but also the service manager for not doing anything about it, this isn't rocket science, it's a glorified lawn mower engine with extra cylinders and carburetors sometimes. You need to put an end to all the double talk, dancing around the issue, and a "we don't care" attitude, but how you ask, very simple you exercise the "nuclear option" go back to the dealer and ask to speak to the owner or general manager if the owner is not there, then with a straight face and polite voice you ask him/her if they can provide you with the name and contact phone number of the person at your brand motorcycle headquarters in your country that can recommend a repair facility that will fix your bike because your local dealer either can not or will not. I guarantee you that is all the grease you need to get someone to light a fire under the proper persons rear end to resolve your issue "toot sweet" Your instrument gauges and lights can alert you to most electrical and engine issues they can not warn you about failed engine gaskets or seals so your engine has to resort to old fashion alert methods of colored "SMOKE SIGNALS" here is a breakdown of their meaning:
1. COLORLESS OR SLIGHTLY BLUE SMOKE on start-up means your air/fuel mixture is at the right composition and everything is well burnt in your combustion chamber.
2. BLUE SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by failed valve seals dripping oil into the combustion chamber when the engine is not running.
3. YELLOW OR BROWNISH SMOKE at start-up means your air/fuel mixture is too lean. Too lean means that there is low fuel but high air mixture in your combustion chamber.
4. WHITE SMOKE on start-up may be caused by a blown head gasket allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber and may start dripping out of the exhaust pipes or mufflers. Smoke while riding is usually caused by worn out or damaged valves, seals, guides, pistons, rings, or cylinder walls.
5. BLACK SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by too much fuel in the combustion chamber this can be due to air/fuel mixture adjustment too rich, accelerator pump improperly adjusted, faulty choke/enrichner or not in the off position, air filter dirty and clogged, faulty carburetor float needle and seat, pilot jet too large, fuel injectors leaking, smoke while riding is usually caused by the main jet being too large or a damaged carburetor.
It should be noted that aggressive or abnormal throttle operation will cause these conditions to manifest themselves exponentially.

There is a seat lock on the LHS side of the bike just below where the front and rear seats meet.

Turn the key clockwise and remove the rear seat. Now turn the key anti clockwise and remove the front seat. If it doesn't release, just put a bit of pressure on the rear of the seat (or bang it with your fist) while turning the key.

Never.

Replacing the timing chains involve splitting the crankcase, and would only be done when the entire motor gets a rebuild.

Your starter bendix possibly needs cleaning. Unfortunately these are sealed units and can only be dismantled and re-assembled with specialized equipment. They can be purchased loose.
