Fouled spark plugs...intake manifold leak... you could have a vacuum line come off or isnt on all the way. bad batch of gas..weak coils, or poor compression. or the choke could not be operating properly. also running too heavy an oil could cause this problem, you should run 10w40 only.

When I try to pull start engine kiks back hard pulls the cort out of my hand and is spits out of the carb

you need to look very close at the flywheel key. If the engine has been apart then you should double check the cam to crank timing marks

Unit runs much better and smoother with air filter off. Foam element is clean. When putting filter cover back on, unit looses power. At times the unit runs fine for up to 30 minutes and then just lloses...

hi there bcolli3

does the unit become very hard to start if warm or hot but ok if cold

have you checked for restricted muffler ?-

is fuel system working properly ?

a air leak could also cause this too ---vaccuum and pressure impulses are needed to operate carb diaphrams and pump and regulate fuel mix ,

check the manifold block/ carb gasket for a air leak, check cylinder barrell to block bolts are tight

check carb bolts are tight,

check that fuel lines are ok no holes / splits , and fuel filter is not restricted / blocked,

could possibly have worn rings too

do compression test and a spark load test

Starts ok when cold stalls when hot and wont re start, i have checked valve clearances

Do not twist the throttle when re-starting a hot engine. That bike floods easily. The power valve in the carb squirts gas into the cylinder with every twist of the throttle. A fresh spark plug will also help.

I have a 2008 KX450F. Starts on 1st kick when cold but really hard to start when hot. Also have trouble with the idle, it is idling very fast but will eventually slow down to normal idle if i let it sit...

There is no reason for the idle to take 10-15 seconds to slow to normal. perhaps you have a vacume leak. check all your seal and gaskets between the engine and the carb.also when it is running spray gummout spray or equivilent around the gasket edges between the engine and the carb, if the idle increases when you spray then you have a vacume leak. (intake leak). It may be that this is causing it to be hard to start when it is hot.(not getting enough fuel)

I have a electric generator with a 5 horse briggs engine it was hard to start and ran with full choke. I ordered a rebuilt kit # 495606 and installed. The only way the engine will run , is to pour gas...

it has a blocked fule line and maybe blocked jets in the carb first clean all the fule lines from the tank down check the filter in the tank as well they do get rust in them, if fule is reaching the carb strip carb and clean all jets,, dont go poking wire into the jets it could distroy them check that the flote is free and lifting then clean the air filter and try starting it up,,,it should run ok then

2006 Maxima starts ok when cold. Really hard to

Might be an oil issue. Oil when hot might be too thick for the pump to pump the oil easily in the engine. Check that and if not that come back.

Bad Carb

check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. also check the primer bulb for pin holes and proper seating/seal. if that doesn't work have the carb repaired at a service center or replaced.
