A warped head will cause a gasket to fail, the process of replacing the gasket includes checking the head for warped surfaces. At this point it is hard to say what caused the gasket to fail.

Blown head gasket

Well it would really depend on the condition of your engine.
It would take more labor to repair your engine than it would to just replace it. But unless the engine is very damaged it should be cheaper to have your engine fixed. And replacing the head gasket and having the head repaired should be under the price you were given. A head gasket set for a 4 cyl engine is around $100 wholesale.
I would call around and check with other shops next.

It's quite a bit of work but you already have repair experience with timing belts, head gaskets, so you should be fine.

I need a diagram of engine model no. 128603 0304 E1 S/N 040323FA

You might try going to the Autozone.com site, Register for free and then use their site for your Diagrams. They show wiring diagrams and repair articles and have Videos and CD's showing different repairs. I just started using them as a resource and can not say if the Videos are free or downloadable.

How hard is a head gasket repair

Extremely difficult. Usually a shop will charge 6 to 8 hours on 1 head gasket, and they have all the tools. You will have to remove the wiring, hoses, valve train, and the head, replace gasket, check for damage, re-assemble the motor and leak check. Pretty invasive
