yes on some models when you change the oil then the filter you need to add oil to the new filter then put it on see the system has to build up a prime and some motors are weak and cannot pick the new oil up Good Luck let me know Mike L.
First check the dipstick, make sure there's enough oil in the engine. If so, then there may be a problem with the oil filter, when was it last changed. It could be the sender, is the connection good and clean. Finally the oil pump filter may be blocked, or possibly the oil pump has failed.
Best would be is to measure the oil pressure out put.
Sometimes the oil filter could be the culprit.
Was the oil warning light staying 'on; prior to the oil and filter change?..If not thn the first thing to check is to replace the oil filter ..its better to install the 'original' one .
Hope this helps!
Does it come on just when you first start it up after the oil change. Does it stay on for Miles? If it comes on just for a few mint.s right after the change, it has to do with the oil press safety. You install a new filter and as the engine starts it will have to refill the oil filter with oil, plus refill all the oil ports in the block to finely build press to shut off the press safety switch, which will the turn off the light.
would be best to have oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge to be sure you have oil pressure.
hopefully you just have a bad oil pressure switch this is located on oil filter adapter rt above filter
