Send the unit to a good service center and you will save yourself a lot of frustration and headaches- let them have those.

SOURCE: casette deck drive belts broken

If they are just worn then you just need to look where they go. Take a photo or draw it! If they are broken and not clear how they attached then it will be hard. You might need the service manual if that is the case.

SOURCE: drive belts Sony FH-B411

Can be fiddly, get a piece of fine wire thats reasonably bendable, shape it into a J make its length about 5-6 inches. You'll need this to help get old belts off and new ones on. Try your electronic stores for VCR kits and get a couple, they've got heaps of belts.the wire can be copper single strand, about thick as a hacksaw blade.

Your drive
belt has probably either broken or come off. Make sure your machine is
unplugged and turn it on its side and take the bottom panel off. The belt is in
there. If it has snapped or come off you'll need to replace it. I have a few
belts that might fit. Hopefully your
belt will have letter/number code on the smooth side. It will look something like this: STS 80 S3M 561 Email me that code to [email protected]. If I have it I could sell you the belt. There are several videos
on you tube that show how to put a belt on a bread machine and you could
install it yourself if I have the belt you need.

Replacing drive belts on hitachi D-1100M cassette deck

Get the service manual, order a belt kit from Marrs, then go in and do it.
There are no manuals that give you a step by step process to change belts it becomes intuitive to the Technicians who work on these different units. There are fewer and fewer of them that know what they are doing . There are more and more "technicians" that have no clue about repairing things and charge a lot of money.

My Sonata GL is at 105K; in the maintenance schedule it is recommended to replace the timing belt. 1) If this particular belt breaks what would be the damage? 2) How much leeway do I have, eg.:100 miles,...

Timing belts are typically only used on overhead camshaft engines. Timing belts are used to synchronize the crankshaft with the camshaft, similar to a timing chain on an overhead valve (pushrod) engine. Unlike a timing belt, a timing chain will normally last the life of the engine without needing service or replacement. Timing belts use raised teeth to mesh with sprockets to operate the valvetrain of an overhead camshaft engine.

Whenever a vehicle with an unknown service history comes into your repair facility or is recently purchased, here are some points that should be asked to help prevent costly engine damage:

* Does the owner know if, or when the belt was replaced-
* If the vehicle purchased is used, or the condition and mileage of the last timing belt replacement are unknown, it is recommended to inspect, replace or at least inform the owner that the vehicle is equipped with a timing belt.
* Note the mileage of the vehicle. The average replacement interval for a timing belt is approximately 60,000 miles (96,000 km).

Inspection

Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.

Removal & Installation

1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the engine splash shield.
3. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise to release the drive belt tension.
4. Remove the drive belt from the alternator.
5. Slowly release the drive belt tensioner.
6. Remove the drive belt from the accessory drive pulleys.

Fig. Accessory drive belt routing - 2.4L engines

To install:

1. Install the drive belt to the accessory drive pulley.
2. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise.
3. Install the drive belt to the alternator.
4. Ensure the drive belt is properly aligned and seated into the grooves of the accessory drive pulleys.
5. Slowly release the drive belt tensioner
6. Install the engine splash shield.
7. Lower the vehicle.

Hope helps.

The door wont open on my xbox 360 how can i fix this without having to pay money for an eguide. To me that is just crazy. I know how to get the machine apart. I am just stuck as to how the door will open...

It's the belt... you need to replace the belt inside of the DVD drive. It wears out and will be no longer strong enough to pull the hub/motor away from the top magnet so that the tray has space to open. Replacing it with a new belt solves this.

Do you know if you have a Samsung, Hitachi, or other drive in there? This is most common with the Toshiba/Samsung drive and you can find the belt at the following website:
